This makes me grumpy

from my chief

---
Folks, we cannot volunteer to be part of the Hurricane Relief efforts due to the fact that by getting orders under the volunteer solicitation we (the NRC) have no control over when we get you back.  With that in mind though, the LT has asked me to solicit to see if anyone would be interested in going TAD there at some point to assist in whatever the unit may need once they get a handle on what they are going to do.  We would have to work through Sector New Orleans and they would have to agree that our people could depart at our discretion and not when they were ready to let us go.

If you are interested, let me know.  I am not guaranteeing anyone that this will ever come about, but want to throw it out there for consideration.  I also have no time frame as of right now to when that would be either.
---

Obviously I want to go TAD.

It's interesting how this issue is one that is making some people assert there is no God, and is, for some of us, strengthening our belief in a God much more.

Recommended reading:  C.S. Lewis' The Problem of Pain and A Grief Observed.  Both are works of Theodicy.  The first being largely intellectual/theoretical, and the second being much more emotional, after Lewis lost his wife to cancer.

I'm grumpy because I have no internet (currently bumming off Old One) when just a few short weeks ago I had dialup.

This means I am in serious, serious Timewasters withdrawl.

On the other hand I live in a really nice apartment now.  Go me.

I'm grumpy because my whole office just got the news that we don't have jobs after October 31st. We're all being laid off and they're moving our product lines to the corporate headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Now the baby will *definitely* be born in October, because my health insurance leaves when my job does...

Grumble.

I heard, Brenna. I'm so sorry. What are your options?

That's lamer than lame, Brenna. Wish I could help, but even though the radio speaks of a "labor shortage" i'm not seeing much in the way of extra employment around here.

Yeah, it's pretty frustrating.
The good news is that my insurance will cover the delivery of the baby (as long as she's born in October. The due date's the 23rd, so if she decides to come late, I'll just have to be induced, or something...) still, and I still get my maternity leave. We're also getting severance packages, though we don't know how much yet.  Also hopefully, I'll have the chance to do some contract work for the company still. It's not a steady paycheck, but it is something. *shrug* I know things will work out, it's just frustrating getting there...

Thanks for the sympathy!

That just stinks, Brenna.

But it is really good that the baby is due in October. If it had been after that...well, it is just really good that the birth will be covered. And there's nothing wrong with being induced after the due date--I think they have to do it at some point, so the baby doesn't get too big.

Sorry for the crappy news. Here's a big hug!  :-*
