What's lost? I know it's some TV show, half of the people I know around here are addicted to it, but beyond that I'm blank.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

We should watch Lost in Spanish on Tuesday.  Anybody up for it?

Cute, CtrlZed. It's nice of you to try and find a compromise.  :)

To answer Entropy's question, Lost is a really cool TV show with sci-fi elements. It's also a mystery. A plane has crash landed on an uncharted island. No one should have survived. In the first episode, a monster in the forest that you never see yanks the pilot out of the wreck and eats his skin off, then leaves him high up in a tree. Then you don't really see the monster again for a while as the plot follows the back-story of like 10 main characters, letting you know about their lives before in flashbacks. But I know the monster is going to come back. He's just hiding to get their guard down. I think he's happy they've moved into the forest now--into his territory.

That's really why Tage wants me to come. Because he likes to laugh at me when the creepy music comes on and I freak out, crying, "It's the monster! Watch out!"

Well, it IS pretty entertaining, you have to admit.

One thing Chimera didn't mention is that Lost is like the Ring.  Once you start watching it, you disappear.  (If only the rescuers had searched in the TV room!  Of all places.)

I'm grumpy/sad because Chris got laid off today, so in a week and a half, neither one of us will have a job (both due to being laid off). Oh, and the baby's due in a week and a half, too.

This is very frustrating!

That's awful! That makes me grumpy/sad.  :P

Can I do anything to help? Like make you dinner when the baby comes? I could even make something that will last, like a big casserole or pot of soup that can be frozen and used later.

The top choices are Corn Chowder, Curry Chicken Casserole, or Taco Soup. All three are relatively healthy and thus good for both you and the baby. I'd be happy to make one for you.

I would be happy to make it for you. Give me a date and I'll plan on it. Or you might want to wait until the baby actually comes.

I am a 3.7GPA Honors student technically in the third year of my honors degree, and I am on the edge of failing CHEM110, the first 100-level class I've ever taken.

Chemistry is evil.

How have you never taken a 100 level class before?
If I had any clue, would I be here?

I got around my entire first year of university by taking 12 AP classes/tests.  ;D

Chemistry is indeed evil. It was my only B in high school, and the reason I graduated at #5 instead of #2 or 3 in my class. I got a 2 on that AP test (and my average AP score was about 4.5). My teacher took great pride in telling me that I set a record level for incompetence in his lab. He even made a question about me on his final exam--"Who is most likely to be late or absent?" He predicted all year that if I became a singer I was going to fail his class, and I did just that.

The most humiliating thing is, I don't even find the material remotely difficult. It's more of a psychotic aversion thing.
