There's not much I wont eat. Taste aversion is supposed to be instincual after one bad incident, but I've gotten food poisoning several times and not stopped eating the food that gave it to me. I guess I just like food too much to be mad at it.

I can tell you a bad experience I had with soda pop once.  Not sure what flavor, and I still drink pop, but it was a bad experience nontheless.

Well, as a kid I wasn't allowed to drink pop or eat/drink in my room.  Naturally, I figured out that since I wasn't supposed to drink in my room, if I drank my pop in there my parents wouldn't find out because they didn't suspect me of having ANY food or drink in my room, let alone soda.

So one day I am drinking a can (not a closable bottle) of pop, and my mom calls me into the kitchen for something, so I hide the pop in a drawer with the assumption of drinking it later. Well, two days later I found it and, seeing as there isn't much I wont consume, I picked it up and drank it. I get half the can into my mouth when I feel solid chunks of SOMETHING in my mouth, and I felt those chunks MOVING around of their own will...

I forced the pop already in my mouth down my throat because I was not going to be able to get to the bathroom to spit it out.  Then I looked into the can to discover dozens of black ants who had been attracted to the sugar, crawled into the can and become trapped by the liquidy goodness over the last several days.  For several weeks afterwards I wouldn't drink and opened pop without looking into it for insectoids first...

The Cloven Shrimp, eh? lol. Uck. This one's definitely going in my paper. Thanks, fellsmum! Er... can I get your real name to cite in my article? Wait, maybe you noted it on the Introduce Yourself thread. I'll take a look . . .

In the meantime, if anyone has ever wondered how truly, truly versatile ground beef is, take a look at this charming recipe.

At B&N the other day, I stumbled upon this hilarious book, The Gallery of Regrettable Food with all these nasty recipes from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Wish you guys could see the ones in the book. Amazon's "Look Inside the Book" feature has a few, but not the best.

Luckily for you, though, the author's also got this web site with some stuff that's not in the book. So, bon appetit! For instance, this next item looks like the absolute perfect food to bring to a D&D session.

My wife makes those. I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with them.

Imo, with those spikey meatballs, it's all about the audience baby. What type of folks are around the table--that's the question. This singular recipe would just be wasted on uptight-creme-brule-eating types.

The spikes, incidentally, are rice.

oh when you buy the paving stone, make sure you get a big one, but also make sure it doesnt cover up your gas vents, and try to get one at least an inch thick.

Okay. I figured I ought to measure the inside of my oven or something. But I wondered how many actual pavers I would need. And how thick they should be. So I'll find out the dimensions of my crummy oven and then I'll try to get one that's the right size. Thanks, Jeffe Who. (I like your new avatar by the way. Snazzy.)

they should make one just big enough to fit. If you keep it in the oven forever then you will really love how well it works. You can cook right on it too (if you like pizza). The only difference you'll experience is when the oven heats up,... it'll take a little longer to preheat.

Oh and thanks I like the Avatar too,... its about time I had a proper Doctor there.

Now is this only for gas stoves? (I'm thinking it is but wanted to ask anyway.)

no you can do it for electric too. Less to worry about. You can put the paver on the bottom rack.

Cool. Good thing to know. Would you cook everything with it in there, or just more main dish type dishes?
