Perhaps we should coin Dhalagirl's Corrolary to Godwin's law?

What are you, some kind of Nazi sympathizer? They thought Hitler couldn't make a mistake either?!?!? Oh, and he was a Worldbuilder too!  >:(  Wait...  ???

Did you just compare Brandon and Hitler?

Direct quote from the annotations by Brandon: She Returned, in fact, in order to save the life of her daughter. She of course forgot this once she got back.

The imperative word here is to. It seems that the Returned do not return because of something they did, but to do something.

That's pretty interesting. By that single tidbit, we can assume that the shard watching over the world in Warbreaker is cognitive of the future. Creating change in the world to directly affect the timeline.

I'm looking forward to seeing how HBO does with its adaptation of A Game of Thrones... if it goes well, it might help to serve as a model for future adaptations of novels. Online distributors like Netflix are now showing an interest in original programming along the lines of the HBO model. And where Netflix goes Hulu (and others) tend to follow, so there's good potential in the market for more of whatever succeeds for HBO.

That's exactly how I was thinking. Generally a good [successful] idea is followed almost to the T by all other competitors. Just look at technology. Microsoft vs Apple is just one company ripping off the other for ideas over n over.

I'd love to see original content from streaming companies, they already have a viewer base because of all the consoles out there in the world. Can't WAIT to be rid of DVD media [currently in the middle of converting all my dvds into a home media server so I won't have to touch the damn things].

A TV or mini-series would be the most successful for such a long epic hopefully a long running one too that doesn't get cancelled quickly [Screw you people behind Stargate: Universe! GARR!]

Alcatraz 5 isn't on hold. It's not scheduled at all. Scholastic decided not to publish it. Brandon will finish the series by some other method at some later date.

Ah, well that answers why Scholastic isn’t publishing the third and fourth Alcatraz novels in paperback. Of course I could be wrong, but it appears there is something that’s gone wrong in the working relationship between Brandon and Scholastic.  That’s a shame.

I am certain Brandon will find a publisher to finish the series, but it's too bad we will never see books 3 and 4 in paperback as Scholastic holds the publishing rights.

Darn you Scholastic and your middle school fliers that made me buy books I didn't need nor want nor plan to read! DAAAAAMN YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU.

...Ya....

Heh   :)

It’s not the price. As you said, it’s only a $4 difference. It’s just the aesthetics of it. I want to keep them all the same on my shelf, not paperback, paperback, hardcover. Yeah, I know, sounds picky.

Besides, it isn’t as if I am really needing it right now as I have enough to read. I just find it odd that the book isn’t in paperback yet as it’s been well over a year since it’s hardcover release and there isn’t a projected paperback release date as far as I can tell.   ???

I completely understand. I'm the same way only opposite, I can't buy paperback. It just looks horrible to me.  ;D

Don't have an answer for ya.. but it's currently $11.55 for the hardcover @ Amazon. Only $4 more then the paperback. Seems like a good deal to meeeeeeee. :nudge nudge: go get it.  ;D

I know what I'd wish for... The knowledge of who killed Asmodean!
But we already have that.  Towers of Midnight revealed it to be [redacted].

(The warning all my professors give us during critiques:  In case I seem to be attacking you i'm not, a critique is about improvement of a piece, not about the person as a whole.)

I try not to crit much in fan-art threads (unless asked) because many of the artists are showing purely to express their love for the material, and not to get feedback on technique.

On DA or artist forums like ConceptArt or Penciljack, critique is part of the point of showing your work  there. You don't want to post to CA unless you're ready to stand beside your work. But here it's a different environment.

Deleted.  ;)

You're right.

Usually I don't either it was just really buggin' me.  I once got torn to shreds on CA's sculpture forums. That was a looooooong time ago.  :D

If you tilt your head, you can see that she's standing at an angle on a wall with Kredik Shaw in the background.

I don't see it. Love Vin tho.

First I've heard of this. All I remember is that BS might not produce a book this year because of all the chaos that WoK & WoT were creating. Guess it's time to geek out and start rereading Mistborn.  I also have 2 new books from Orson Scott Card to read. Favorite authors producing is making me very happy.

Cool addition but the thread was 3 years old. Would have better luck starting a new thread probably.

You can find some of the unpublished stuff if you dig deep enough.

Sample chapters of Scribbler.
Sample chapters from two versions of "Dragonsteel: The Liar of Partinel"
ILL for Dragonsteel if it can be found.

As far as becoming an Alpha reader, it can happen, though it is a very long process.

I am a beta reader and that happened after having been reading Brandon's books, emailing him, and going to a lot of signings and such for about 5 years.

you dont count. I still hold to my theory that you know essentially what brandon is writing even before he himself does.

But yeah, getting access to that stuff is far from an overnight process. One that i have no where near the moxy to set down the path of doing, so i just content myself with hanging around here, chatting it out, and poking fun at peter when he comes around.

I concur. It's very creepy when we start a random thread and Miyabi pulls knowledge outta his ass. Very creepy.

Hrm.. first time I've read that. I dunno how that slipped through my fingers. Great info tho.

I really do wish the unpublished works that have been seen by few would be made readily available to the general forum public. We aren't the casual reader and some if not all would really appreciate the inside look behind the curtain BS draws around his unpublished works (the ones that he doesn't plan to publish). At least the ones that aren't going to be cannibalized for other projects (much like pieces of Dragonsteel being taken for The Way of Kings).

OT: ArgentSun = same ArgentSun from Wowhead forums?

Woohoo! I've checked this everyday for like the last month. So nice to know I can waste countless hours of my work time again!
