Everything Else / Re: Is bloody Mary real?
« on: March 25, 2011, 06:56:16 PM »

Since everyone seems to hate my threads, I think I'll just stop posting them. Now that you've told me all the things I'm doing, I've realized I'd be doing everyone a favor. The last thing this site needs is a stupid kid posting stupid things. Bye-bye, TWG!

Well, there's no reason to stop posting. We're more than happy to have new people around, it's just, as with any social interaction, you need to be tactful. Simply learn from your mistakes. I'm sure now that everyone's seen that you're earnest in your conviction to not being a troll, they'd be more than happy to work with and help you. I just figured I should point out why peter was saying you were a troll, in hopes that if you were true in your statement of not being a troll, that you would be able to recognize and shore up what needs to.

*my* level changes

Well, i know a lot of the levels proceed to similar things for a while, for example something like "Incompetent swordsman" to "unqualified swordsman" (note: i don't know if those are any actual titles, just an example). It could also be possible that all the low levels for your class template have the same name for a while. Watch and see what it changes to when you hit 100, i'm pretty certain it will be, if only slightly, different. At least at this point you have it in writing that you are currently a "ditch digger", and can refer back to it later, and not rely on memory that may trick you with a new, similar title (for example, if you went to "trench digger" or something, and try to think back on it, you may misremember it because they're similar :P )

So how does this business with class titles work?  Do they change at some point?  Mine seems to have stayed the same since the beginning.

See where it says "Posts: 61/100" on the side there? Every time you hit the number on the right (in this case, 100) your title changes. The numbers get larger as you go forward. (you also level up, where it notates your level)

Either you are young, or not terribly familiar with internet standards for what most people consider a troll. I don't mean this as as insult; Most things you have posted come off as very troll-like. For example, you post several polls about variously random things that have almost nothing to do with anything, such as your justin beiber girl thread, nessie thread, or this one. All of which have little or nothing to do with really anything, and are just random questions, most of which have a pretty obvious answer. That being said, however, you do get them in their respective sections (general discussion, music, etc.) which is a step in the right direction.

Another example would be your post about pokemon cards in the CCG section. That post comes off as very provacative, and outright insulting to pretty much anyone who does like it, and same goes for a post of yours about the wii.

That being said, if you do actually wish to not come off as a troll, my advice is this:
Reign it in.

Don't use capslock for really anything, capslock comes off on the internet as yelling, and looks incredibly immature.

don't go around stating your opinions about things in manners such as "it sucks, it's a pile of poop, etc." state it more like "I honestly don't care for X" or "X isn't something i enjoy at all", and don't say things like "Do people actual LIKE/CARE about X?" because that comes off as extremely insulting to anyone who does like and/or care about whatever the subject at hand is.

Before posting anything, ask yourself "How would i feel if i was on the receiving end of this comment?" If the answer is any sort of angry, upset, or any other negative emotion, you probably need to reword it. You can post whatever you want, obviously, i'm not saying to censor yourself. Just try to be considerate of others when you post, because if you aren't, you WILL come off as a troll.

Like i said, I'm not intending to insult you in any way. It's just that almost everything I've read that you've put out here comes off very close to troll territory. I'm not trying to run you away, or dishearten you to these forums. We love new members around here, and we're more than willing to give you a second, and likely even a third, chance to change our opinions of you. Afterall, we don't want to have another utopiaGreen around here (older members will know what i'm talking about  ;) )

I hope all of you have realized that T-Square is a complete troll. There is no point responding to any thread he starts.

yeah, he only seems to post provocative polls, however, this one seems to be a troll, if you ask me. Asking about a children's legend? Not even a terribly controversial one?

i've done it on many occasions just to show people it's not true. i'm a pretty big skeptic, so i have no problem attempting anything paranormal (i also do things other suggest that are a pretty stupid idea on my part, but that's another matter entirely).

Why not just play Magic?

Cockatrice is free. =]

i believe that answer you're looking for is "I have no idea what that is."

I'm going to a tournament in like an hour or so.  Which deck shoudl I use!?!?!?!?!?

well, this obviously comes late, but my recommendation just off the cuff without really looking at them would probably be for the blue/black deck, followed by the red/white deck. In my aged experience, a green/white deck either all together lacks the punch needed to win, or takes too long to really get going. Not saying its an impossible deck combo, just that im skeptical of it.

Since we're talking about magic, and slightly off-topic-ish, you should totally sign up for and play with me cardmaster conflict sometime. I've been meaning to play it again, as i havent in years, and its very much so magic-like.

off hand, my only critique is that all your creatures are relatively high cost. I would put in some 1 mana cost creatures.

some lowly goblins maybe, like rage goblins, or frenzied goblins, there's also a bird from white whose name i cant remember that's 1 mana cost 1/1 flying. Simple but to the point. also, some figure of destinys would probably be nice.

also, instead of the trigon of mending, an essence bottle is slightly more mana effecient (saves 1 total mana per counter, and is mana free to use all counters at once). I've used this thing in conjunction with many a white deck to really buff my HP.

i'm not entirely sure what you mean by "keeping your deck standard" (keep in mind i haven't played MTG too much in the past almost 15 years now, though i do check up on new card sets on occasion), do you mean tournament legal? If that's the case, i have no idea what is legal and what isn't these days. So i dunno if these cards fit in with a "standard" deck, but those are my off-hand recommendations.

you guys know what would be more helpful? To report some of the spam to a moderator, using the "report to moderator" button. don't need to do all of them, just enough to get a mod's attention to remove all the spam posts, rather than working around them by bumping threads. (i've all ready reported a few, but so far haven't seen a mod come on and get it) :P

Just sayin'.

Video Games / Re: Wakfu beta

Will do.  I only played for a few minutes a bit ago.

My only problem with Dofus was in order to do well at all you had to pay, which was obnoxious to me.

I like "Pay or don't play" and "Play for free, but get bonus stuff if you pay."

The "Play half-assed unless you play" was ugh.

heh, i love free2play. Though, i think most companies could take a lesson or two from turbine about how to do it.

having played dofus originally when it was in beta, and coming back to it several times over the years, i am quite aware of wakfu. I, however, do not have a beta key. Let me know if it's any good!

No, led called me and told me it happened.

ah, i see. (actually, i just noticed you said "it", i originally thought you posted "i", so i assumed you were posting in the wrong topic, but i see what's what now :P)

It stayed up too late drinking, then called in sick.

i think you also clicked the wrong topic :P

Rants and Stuff / Re: Whatever happened to the word, "led"?
« on: February 14, 2011, 03:15:22 AM »
it happens, i believe, because people confuse led with lead (the noun) and assume its right to go with lead ("leed") because of instances like read ("red") and read ("reed")
