As much as I love Lloyd Alexander (he kissed me on the cheek once) his non-Prydain stuff is pretty much all the same.

because I was in my house on January 1st, I still have to pay taxes for the fiscal year July 1st 2009 to June 30th 2010.
When you bought the house, did the people who who were in it on Jan 1st pay the taxes for that year?  I'm assuming not.   >:(

We read it for book club (at church) a couple of years ago.  A few of us got the full version and some got the abridged version.  It made for some confusing discussion.  One girl showed up with the Cliffs Notes, and when I looked at it I realized that it was the Cliffs Notes of the abridged version.

Abridged versions are common.  They completely excise several sub-plots.

The Count of Monte Cristo (around 1600-ish pages?)  It moves along at a good clip, but it was too large to comfortably read in bed.  This is one of things that makes me want an ereader.

I seem to recall hearing the number ten before, too.

The shirt was my idea.   ;D

I'm voting for "indefatigable," because I like saying it.

I think "Lorem Ipsum" would be a good screen name.  Or a band name.

Ha!  My husband is on that list.   ;D

I'd say The Warrior's Apprentice (the first Miles book) isn't as  strong (I think it was written before Shards of Honor, even?)  There were things about it that I didn't really get the first time through ("Why are they doing this, again?")

Memory is my very favorite, though that comes much later in the series.

(Lois is my favorite author, so I'd recommend almost any of her stuff, though the Sharing Knife series is best read in two-book clumps because each book is really half a book as far as plot sophistication goes.)

Lois is my favorite author too.   ;)

We enjoyed the Sharing Knife books.  Some of the intimate details were a little more detailed than I'm generally comfortable with (not like graphic eroticism or anything), but that was toned down more in the second set (the third and fourth books, that is).  It's an interesting setup and different from the traditional medieval fantasy.
