The UN is like the the EU

Spineless
Appeasment

Someone forgot the lessons of History
That and UN Failures and inactio did ALOT to contribute to that (and many other) Bloodbath.  (Ooops found the black box 9 years too late)

The wrong action is often less deadly than inaction.

Everything Else / Re: Japan: Explain thyself.
« on: April 08, 2005, 12:00:17 PM »
I have a tough time explaining to some people, that absolutist careerism is not my cup of tea.
That I would be happy to make enough to provide for my family and anything else would be nice, but unnessiacary and not worth the stress, time and sacrifice.
I just want a Chevy and a Ranch-style house.
Not a Porche and a 5000sq foot custom build

It alwasy seemed to me that the simple households were the happier ones.

Oh and babyboomers have alot to awnser for in the problems of this country.  Amazing that the "greatest" generation was able to spawn such a self-centered irresponsible yet grandstanding in show-values group of ingrates.

There are exceptions of-course.

I blame the career-uber-alles attitude you see in Japan and you see evolving in the USA.

People focus too much on what they do. Your job should be only a means by which you provide for your family and self.

Books / Re: What's the best thing you've read in a year?

Carribian
James Mitchner

Picked it up after my Honeymoon in Cancun.  When I was down there I found myself more intrested in the Mayan Ruins and the interior of the Yucatan, than by the famous Cancun Party Scene.
One of my favorite memories of the trip was climbing the Pyramid at Ek Balam, and wandering the ruins of Tulum.  Then I read Carribian, and part of it took me down the same path through Tulum, from the beach where I wet my feet, to the NW Gate of the City, only 800 years ago.   It was a breathtaking read in that light.

Also, I'll never look at a bottle of Capt Morgan again.  The real Capt Morgan was a right sod-off Basturd

There's a chance this could be PC bound as well since Nokia has one or two games comming out for both N-gauge and the PC (and they're muliplayers can conncet) in the future.

Ooohh not ideal, An N-Gage game could fit in a Flash wrapper on the PC.
We have these Tiny gods with amazing computational and graphical powers,  I would like to be IMMERSED in Rifts through the conduit of my PC, Not "catch a glimps through blocky pixels" Like an N_gage to PC convert would be.
Morrowind, Neverwinter, Fallout, etc.... Thats the treatment I want for Rifts

I am Grumpy because I had to tell my friend/boss that I disliked my job and was looking for a new one.  I expected him to get mad and possibly fire me

Instead he was sympathetic and understanding, letting me keep working for him until I find something and offering to help me look, making me feel lower than low for leaving his employ

Opinions should not be aggressive and all caps. You have to admit, your post was pretty in-your-face.

I am an in-your-face guy.
Its why I use IMAO instead of IMHO

The use of the word WRONG is used in opinion. Debating semantics is just a poor tactic

WRONG
The best companies know how to work within their constraints and manage their time
Black Isle Studio
Raven Software
etc...
Look at the mess Ion Storm ended up with when they tried a "Developer Friendly" environment.  Diakatana slipped interminably and was released FINALY, years late, uninspired, to a world that called it junk.
No,
You have to have some form of deadlines,  with room for flexibility.
The problem is that the Developer and the Publisher are 2 seperate entities in most cases, and the Publisher dosent know whats going on and is therfore unflexable with deadlines.
Thankfully Valve is starting to change that, with Steam they can start releasing games STRAIGHT to the user and bypass the publisher all together.

The problem isn't just the deadlines,  its the Farbot Dev-Pub system we have now.

+1 to SE
also,
Here is my own proclimation

The internet is a dirty broken place.  If you connect to it, you are dipping your computer into a vat of filth and electronic disease.  Those who fail to protect their machines while coating them in such filth are simply excersizing their role in evolution.  The destruction of their data will help the surviving computing community to become wiser and stronger

If the internet were introduced in the state it is in now, NO ONE would touch it.
