They cannot.  They have NO idea.  I have several things to say to this, which hopefully will not get censored.

Oh, what? So yaoi is written for who- American women?  And with all the perverse and insane hentai that's being imported here, are they going to predict that in 50 years there will be a problem like this in America?  Nay.  Americans are many things, but the Japanese corner the economic market on weirdness.

It is a funny thought that the Mormons could act as the bringers of sex to a country. Granted, this is within marriage, but it is still a funny thought.

Well even if they were just doing it for the children it would solve the population concerns.  Then they might decide it was an ok pasttime.

I will comment on the porn aspect, that country is very stange when it comes to this it's about as easy to get as buying a can of soda.  I have actualy seen vending machines that sell porn movies/magazines/other stuff right next to junior high schools.  They still look at women as property and sexulize 12-14 year olds quite often.

Men not seeing their wives as something sexual isn't new there, it's been around for a long time, what do you think Geshias were?  They're high class prostitutes and misstresses.  It wouldn't be surpriseing to have a man with many mistresses and the wife being the caretaker.  You'll also find wifes putting on a happy face about the situation, like saying "I'm so honered that his mistress pleases him in ways I cannot." but ya, they're not allwayse that happy about it.

Anothing thing to bring up is there are significantly more woman in Japan then men (at least thats how it was several years ago).  Think it's somewhere like 55-45. when you figure that's probaly around 12 million more that's a lot.

So Japan and India should hook up.  Didn't I just see an article about India making it illegal to determine the gender before birth (so they won't abort a daughter)  and promoting daughters in the same way Japan was promoting children?

Yeah, the idea that there could be a shortage of people in an Asian country seems laughable. I mean you have Russia, China, and India right there.

Russia itself only has 140 million - that's bigger than britain, but not on the same league as the asian countries.

Also, it's not exactly in asia. It's generally regarded as being it's own continent :P

I'm not going to blast , but I don't think it's *soley* the porn industry.  As i was kind of trying to say above - if you moved their porn industry here, the same thing wouldn't happen.  I think it's the porn industry interacting with the already-bizarre culture.

actually, I think that if you moved that same porn industry here, with the same interest in it, I think you'd see much the same thing happening.

I blame the career-uber-alles attitude you see in Japan and you see evolving in the USA.

People focus too much on what they do. Your job should be only a means by which you provide for your family and self.

Actually, blaming the porn industry isn't really that far off. From what I gathered at by going to one session of the "Men's Issues" course at the mental health session (a class that I'm never going to volunteer for again, due to my sheer ignorance), sexual addiction is primarily caused by porn and typically effects men. Something like 80% of all sex addicts are men. Sex addiction usually results in impotence, divorce, depression, other addictions (like being a workaholic), and several other problems.

That's mostly hear-say so you'd have to research that for yourself if you want to know more.
