And just be glad you don't live in Canada, where the age of consent is 14.  Or, maybe you should tell boyfriend that.  If he goes to Canada, he can legally hook up with girls 14 and up and leave your sister alone!

hah, that's a great solution.

I am SO moving to Canada.

I hear the weather is nice and cool there, and I'm sick of hot Australian Summers.

Either I didn't see the post, and so that made no sense, or you were talking about my post (Debatably tasteless) in which case, no, you didn't.

Which was very tasteless.  And was deleted.

The whole Canada thing is what gets to me. I mean, I thought they were CIVILIZED.   Then I find out I have a distant friend whose 14 year old sister is being courted by a 30 year old man and legally there's nothing they can do about it.

This is what I get for going out of town.

SE nailed it--My sister *is* more mature than Aaron.  And I don't think they need to be worried about the age of consent for marriage, because I don't think he'll be marrying her in this lifetime.  And I think she knows that.  Arg.

I think I'm going to start sending Aaron anonymous emails about the benefits of living in Canada...

And I'm really glad I don't know what Rican posted.  I don't think I want to know.

Statutory laws are only relevant if they're having sex.

But on the bright side, Lisha broke up with him.   I'm not sure that's a total fix, but hopefully it's a step in the right direction.

But you can bet that if he knew the parents weren't so excited about their daughter's choice of boyfriends, it may have kept him from trying something that would cause your sister deeper trouble.

If by CIVILISED you mean moral,  Keep in mind that Canada is fruther along in the secular progressive movement.   We have far more in common with our neighbors to the south, I hope
