I could never get into this show, try as I may. If they pull an Alias with the next season (i.e., a complete change of setting and focus, which Alias did every season without losing the core characters or conflict), I might give it another shot.

Dan Wells / Re: I am not a Serial Killer BANNED!!!

The first year I went to the World Horror con, a couple of guys did a reading of a short story that was essentially just a really graphic game of "how fast can you kill everyone on a bus?" Compared to the majority of the modern horror field, my books are downright virtuous. That said, the first horror agent I sent the book to said it was the creepiest thing he'd ever read.

Also: you gave my book to a freshly-returned missionary? I will laugh and laugh about that for years.

The thing to remember about all three books in this series is that they are all, when you boil them down to their core, the story of a person who is trying very, very hard to be good. Doing the wrong thing is always discussed but never condoned, and in fact the ramifications of "bad" behavior are much stronger in this series than they are in most other contemporary fantasies. How many people does Luke Skywalker kill, and it doesn't bother him at all? And how many people does John kill, and why, and for what reasons, and how deeply does it affect him afterward?

Wow, pacatak, that's a pretty strong reaction to the book. How old was the brother who hated it, and what kinds of books does he normally read? Ookla's right--the book definitely isn't for everyone.

If you really want to have some fun, buy them a copy of book 2 when it comes out next year. If they thought the first one was too freaky, the second will get you disowned.

That's not a bad idea. I also need to make some T-shirts.

Yes, I'll be at the BBQ.

And FantasyAngel, where are you from? I'm planning some trips next year.

I'm really glad you guys are liking it. If any of you are local, I'll be at CONDuit in Salt Lake City next weekend and I'd be delighted to sign your books and give you a "I Am Not a Serial Killer" button (you know, just to ease everyone's mind. Or throw them off the trail).

Not officially, but it's true that we usually end up with a lot of audience participation.

Read the interview, and now that it turns out Amy Acker is also invited to those pictionary parties, I really want to get in. Steve, the pact is a go.

Lots of great story stuff going on in this episode, but the highlight was simply watching Tudyk hit it out of the park.
Why doesn't that man have a lot more acting gigs? He's really amazing.

I really loved this episode, and I'm wondering if Alpha's relationship to Echo goes all the way back to when she was Caroline.

Steve, link me that interview!

There's a Hardee's in Salt Lake, a few of them I think, but I always like Carl's Junior better.

Once again the topic has strayed from our most important subject, namely me.

It will be a week or so before we're likely to see Aprilynne here on TWG. Her book launches today, and she's got a lot of stuff going on. The short answer to "how did she end up on TWG" is that she's a friend of mine launching her first book, and I thought she'd be a good addition to our community, and she didn't have a message board yet, so I brought her on.

But don't worry; she'll get on and introduce herself more fully in a few days.
