Oh, I havent talked to my mom in 3 years...

she came out when I was in high school and divorced my dad. When I joined the church our relationship soured...

I still try to look her up and call her and send her letters, but last year she went down to live with her mother in alabama, they had a falling out and now no one knows where she is...

my dad however is great...

I come from a long long LONG line of depression and abuse and alcoholism.  My grandparents abused my mom; she has post traumatic stress disorder because of it.  So we cut off all contact with that side of the family when I was thirteen, but not before I dealt with some of the abuse myself.  

My dad's father is dead, as are most of his relatives.  Most of them drank themselves to death, though his brother and sister are still alive, his brother on and off of heroin and his sister is insane...literally.  My dad's an alcoholic too; he got clean when I was 12.  

I have a three cousins we are sort of in contact with, like maybe a Christmas card every couple of years, and that's about it.  Other than that it's just me, my mom, my dad, and my little sister.  But we don't talk to each other in my family, so forget family support in the church.  There's no family support at all.
