I left out Alternate Realities for now so that we could do just that. I've debated whether or not to go into detail about each different game. Right now, I think being general in the FAQ is a good idea. These things are too dynamic to keep updating the FAQ every time one dies or starts, and I don't pay much attention to it.
My thought is that there should be a thread in 'What's this' that is an 'Alternate Realities FAQ.' It would be sticky, and it be short and contain single posts by the runners of each game, describing the game, telling how often it is currently updating, and if it's looking for new members or not.
While I agree with what you two have said in the emails, I do think it is good that we now have each category defined. This is particularly important for 'Site News' and 'Suggestions Box,' which I think should generally be left alone by everyone but mods. HoM's book, for instance, probably shouldn't be in 'Site News' but in 'Books' or 'Everything Else.' (But, we let it stay because we wuv him so much.)
Anyway, now we can have a stronger basis for moving threads or deleting posts in these two areas. I agree that Everything Else and Rants (though I tried to come up with a criteria to distinguish the two) should generally allow any kind of thread, and we should resist deleting/locking topics here.
Though, for future reference, perhaps we should move any thread that gets really heated over to 'Rants.' That way, people will know that it's a potentially argumentative topic, and can stay away from it if they're bothered by such things.
