Lol. I don't have 20/20 or anything close to it, and i don't wear glasses :P Does the surgery just bump your eyesight up even on the type (ie near/far) that didn't need the glasses to begin with?

When I got RK 7 years ago (the kind with the diamond-tipped knife, not a laser) it bumped my eyes up from like 20/400 to 20/40; I went back twice for touchups but it didn't do any good. I'm happy though; I now have some glasses that I wear for night driving and sometimes at movie theaters, plus sunglasses, but the rest of the time I go without.
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

I plan to have this done someday when we have money.  It's good to hear of more and more people I know personally getting it successfully done though.

Saw World of Dance tonight, where BYU's dance groups perform their best pieces of the previous year. (And I mean I literally SAW it--without visual enhancements of any kind, but with my own two eyes.)

About World of Dance--all I can say is wow. It never ceases to amaze me how much talent there is in the performing arts at BYU. I love dance. It is such a beautiful expression of human emotions. There were some powerful pieces tonight--I was very moved. So I'm pretty happy right now.  :)

Ari's getting baptized.  It's really exciting.

I'm not sure I completely understand your question Entropy., but I'll do my best to answer it. As I understand it, LASIK surgery can improve just about anyone's eyesight. The easiest, though, is near and far sightedness. It gets more complicated if you have astigmatisms (which I didn't, so don't ask me the details about that--I don't know). I just had straight up nearsightedness--anything beyond a couple inches from my face was blurry without glasses/contacts--so they said I was easy to fix. And I was!  8)

Ah, so it'll improve even 'normal' eyesight up to 20/20 or whatever?

Shooting lasers into people's eyes sounds like a nervous job. But also kind of cool.

I am happy because
a) the weather's nice
b) baseball season is over and the Nats aren't in the playoffs. I won't have to listen to any more games interrupting my music
c) the power adapter for my monito top lamp finally arrived. I'll never have to turn on over head lights again!

Much rejoicing...my apartment room is almost finished being rebuilt, the landlords are reducing my rent for the inconvenience, and I got to see Serenity.

I'm happy because I did something for myself that needed to be done. Even if it has raised conflicting emotions in me.

I've been sitting here doing bills and working out my budget for the next month, and for some reason it just wasn't adding up right. I kept going over it and over it, and I couldn't figure out why I was coming up so short, and I was really sad and worried I'd have to say I couldn't come down to Utah at all because I wasn't even sure I'd be able to make ends meet. Hyperventilating, worrying about how things just weren't adding up.

Then I realized I only added one paycheck for the month, not two. Whoops! :) It adds up much more nicely that way. Still tight, but with enough to spare that I can afford a little road trip (though not driving), a much-needed break from regular life, and still pay all the bills and eat. Eating is a good thing. So is paying rent.

This morning I had a scare because I woke up and my left eye was all blurry and it usually isn't blurry when I wake up. But I put in my eyedrops like usual and got dressed and went to work. Still my left eye remained blurry. I got a huge headache (I've been getting a lot lately because I have to read and use the computer so much between work and school and fun). I also noticed that my eye was scratchy and irritated, like it was right after the surgery. Suddenly I remembered a caution from the eye doctor--I would know that the flap they had made in my cornea was askew if my eye went blurry and felt like it was scratchy and irritated, as if there was something in it, but there wasn't, and eyedrops didn't make it go away.

I was really worried at this point that I was going to need to go and see my eye doctor today and have them fix the cornea flap and then I'd have to wear the sleeping googles for another week (I just went off them, and am sleeping so much better). But I couldn't leave work so I stuck it through. Eventually it was time to put in more eyedrops. Immediately my eye felt better--I could see and the scratchy feeling was gone. I was so relieved! My eye had must've been overly dry.

And THAT is why this is on the Happy Thread! Because it is great that the problem was a dehydrated eye rather than a messed up cornea flap. Yay.  :)

Consequently, I've been using eyedrops like a fiend to avoid such a scare again.
