My neighbors bought it, so I already watched the movie and all the special features. Make sure you check out the preview of the extended edition DVD--very cool stuff.

Heh.  I'm afraid you're a bit too late for me, too.  I watched it after writing group on Satuday.

So here's the deal: Everyone waiting for the Extended Edition of TTT is going to have another choice to make. On November 18 they're actually releasing two versions: the normal Extended Edition (four discs, same kind of stuff as the FOTR EE) and the Collector's Edition, which is exactly the same but has a fifth disc entitled "The Evolution of Gollum." I don't know if the CE will be harder to find than the EE (maybe you can only get it through special deals), or how much it's going to cost.

Uh... that's the same thing that happened with FotR. Except the CE had a Nat'l Geo. special on the making rather than something about Gollum. I will probably make the same decision I did before and get the EE, I don't need extra book ends or another disc I'll watch once and never again.

The book ends were really cool. But I didn't have $70, especially when I had already bought the first release.

My plan is to buy the first releases and then buy the box EE set when that comes out (which I'm assuming it will--and I have no factual basis on which to base that assumption, not even my whole-hearted belief that it will happen).

I know a large number of fanboys who bought the CE, bookends and all.

I know, however, ZERO people who USE the bookends.

Hmm, maybe that means I could get them on eBay for really cheap.

I have lots of books. I would use them.

If we do some sort of Two Towers extended edition party thingy, can you do a webcam conference thing for those of us that can't make it to Utah?

yeah, well, soon as I have a saturday off....

Maybe you could play at my house on the 30th, Jeffe, if you still have it off. I'll be watching the kids, but we could probably get in a game of Duel of Ages.
