Monitor
« on: April 13, 2004, 05:09:22 PM »
This isn't really news, but I know a lot of you don't read the everything else topics.

My monitor fried yesterday, and I'm in need of a new one, and I'm broke.

Does anyone have an old monitor that they would be willing to give me/sell to me cheap?  I don't need anything nice--just something that works.

By the way, this probably applies only to Utah folks, since I certainly don't want to pay shipping on a monitor.

I bought a used monitor at the DI for five bucks, and it showed the same staticky jumpiness on the screen.  I guess that means that it's a problem with the computer.  I hauled the thing down to Totally Awesome this morning (at least I get free service).

Totally Awesome, even were I still living in Utah, will never get a single cent of my money. Not only do i fundamentally disagree with them on some tech issues, but the techs and sales people are total wankers and were schmucks to me besides. That company has major problems that go far beyond their incredibly stupid name and irritating commercials.

Well, while I know that people have complained about both their computers and their business ideology, I can't deny the fact that the sold me the best computer I've ever owned, and that the service has been superb.

I do admit, however, that the salesman who sold it to me was a ________ (insert dirty word).

schmuck?

Honestly, it actually had much less to do with the quality of their product -- with which I am unfamiliar, the salesman just told me something I disagreed with strongly, and basically told me I was an idiot for disagreeing with him and assumed I had done no research. He continued to do this even as I was walking out of the store because I didn't like the initial answer. I wanted a frickin Athlon chip. That's all. They didn't have them, so I left. continuing to say I had no clue as I walked out the door assured me that I would never ever ask them for any parts or help ever.

Totaly awsome computers are actualy considered some of the best PCs avalible anywhere.  They were ranked better then alien ware and others by PC gamer magazine.  And, if my memory serves me right, was labled best pc of 2002 by the same magazine.  Of course that dosen;t mean the sales people aren't morons (computer geeks with huge ego's, never a pretty site).  Also, as HOM stated, they've got realy good support for their pcs.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!
