Canning Assignment
« on: July 28, 2004, 05:34:37 PM »
So, you non-LDS people are going to be totally lost here.  I just spent 2.5 hours in the Lindon cannery canning peaches.  That's what I get for going to a real stake as opposed to a student one.

And, since it's a real stake, you probably weren't canning in the company of fine young ladies.  Too bad.

Speaking of which, our ward recently had an assignment at the DI, baling clothes for shipment overseas.  Basically, I just tossed donated clothes into a hydraulic press for two hours.  And I was amazed at the amount of lingerie that is donated to the DI.  There was a TON of the stuff.

It made me wonder, when those clothes bales end up in the middle-of-nowhere Sierra Leone, what the locals will do with a bustier.

At home we would go pick strawberries.  And in the fall, pick apples, which was better, because the weather was cool and you got to climb trees.

Best service ever.

see, I'm either doing something right or evilly wrong. Because despite being in "real" stakes for a few years now, I have not been given canning assignments

hm...I filled orders at the bishop's storehouse here for a few hours. It was fun. Not something I think would remain fun for very long, though.
