Internet Personals
« on: January 01, 2005, 01:43:55 AM »
Ok, so I've actually started to look into the Yahoo personals that I've been receiving (and not just look at the pictures of the ladies anymore). I just want some opinions from those of you who have used these and what you think of them. Obviously they'll be a bit biased since someone found his certain something or other. But yes, commence!

eHarmony did Mr P proud. Guys engaged thanks to it.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Like Ent said, eHarmony worked for me.  And my fiance joined because of one of her friends getting engaged from it.  And a friend of mine joined and has since gotten engaged to the girl he met there.

Of course, if you're just looking for quick hook-ups, it's not the place to be.

Bummer, when I saw the subject, I thought people would be making fun of Internet Personals.

Sad.

But this board is populated by geeks who spend far too much time online...how else do you expect us to find a spouse?

I had just started seriously considering them and made a couple accounts (no picture uploading yet though) when Karen reappeared. Now I'm very glad I don't have to look anymore.

Well, I had a couple good experiences, a few more not so good and then met my wife....The funny thing was I hadn't planned on trying to date her at first. She lived in a city I had lived in a few months prior (Salem) and she liked Star Wars (always a huge plus).
So we started emailing, then phone calls, and eventually dating.
But if you're looking for a hook-up I believe there are some more, uh..adult orientated "dating" sites out there...not that I would know.

Hard to say, since it looks like I'll be paying the rest of my life  ;D   Just kidding, couldn't resist.

I think it was like $35 for a month.  That's what I did and I only needed about  a week and a half of it.  If Kim and I hadn't hit it off, I'd have been meeting 4 or 5 other women within the next week.

Well, we don't role dice to see how much money Steve makes in a day or how good dinner is going to be, if that's what you mean. ;)

Roleplay? That's how I met my husband.

I've been so spectacularly bad at roleplaying...either that or I just don't mesh with the playing style of any of the GMs I've played with.

And anyway the gender ratio at your standard RPG is such that this method of courtship would be effective for only a certain percentage.

Of course I met my fiancee at TLE, a geeky institution out of which there have been quite a few marriages over the years.
