Robocop.

And I am honestly terrified that the Supreme Court ruled this way.

What does this mean?  Five out of nine justices are being paid off by corporations?

It fell pretty much along party lines with Democrats for it Republicans against it.  I wonder if Congress will try to do anything, they could pass a law that would make this ruleing obsolite.

This is the worst ruling the Court has made since the "virtual" child porn one.

The poll about this on CNN.com had only 1% of the voters agreeing with the decision.

Yeah I noticed that too.  And all I could think was,

But the thing is, there's something higher than a law Congress passed--the right to property, the right to be free from search and seizure. It's already in our foundational documents. It makes me wonder what possessed them to say that it was Constitutional, when it's so obviously unconstitutional--not only that, but it's in the Declaration, or at least an early version of it--life, liberty, and property were the original principles (property being changed to pursuit of happiness).

"Life, liberty, and property" were Lockean ideals.

Certainly, this ruling betrays traditional American values to Communism (or at least it heads that direction).

I find it absolutely fascinating, that Democrats, who constantly accuse the Republicans of being in league with big business, are the ones who voted FOR business. I guess when it comes down to it, they're not really AGAINST big business, they're just FOR big governmnet.

Incidentally, this decision makes me feel metaphorically raped.

Reinforces, yet again, whythe 2nd amendment is so important.

I was already amazed and outraged when I found out that they were allowed to confiscate your house so they could put a highway there instead. Now they can confiscate a house and give it to someone else, because their being there will "more greatly benefit the community." I am genuinely worried about the direction our government is taking. Democrats and Republicans are both so established that no other party is really going to challenge them. And since bad laws are rarely repealed, they can just take turns establishing laws, and rights are slowly chipped away.

Saint, someone commented that it looked like the democrats went communist and decided to share land for the greater good. While republicans regard property as something to use shotguns in defense of :P

Just a reply to Stacer, in the courts ruleing they said that the feds, stat or local goverments could pass or change their laws to make it so the goverment could not take land for comercial development.
