Joss Whendon is quite talented at coming up with great one liners and funny discussions.

I liked Firefly more for its potential than for its quality. It was okay, given the brutal lack of sci-fi on television, but it needed at least one more season, maybe two, to get as good as most people seem to think it was.

Or in other words, very few people were this complimentary about the show when it was actually on--it seems like the shows "martyrdom" has given it a surge of popularity (probably based on nostalgia and loyalty to Whedon). But there's at least two rabid Firefly fans on this thread, so I'm obviously talking to the wrong crowd.

I liked it while it was still on, but I would never have watched it if J.T. hadn't (more or less) forced me to watch an episode.  Fox did a horrible job of advertising what it was- I saw the ads for it before it started and thought "Ugh,  I don't want to watch that tripe."

And yeah, you're talking to the wrong crowd, but hey- no biggie.   Yes, the martyrdom has a lot to do with it-  It's fun to back a cause like that.

Well, finally broke down and bought the boxed set, being the Whedon fan I am.

Joss wrote this for me.  Western? Check.  Space? Check.  Great characters? Check.  Classic Whedon One-liners? Check.  The only thing the show was missing was zombies.

Coming from a huge Buffy fan, this is the best stuff he's ever done.  Too bad its dead (besides the movie).

I also broke down and ordered the box set while I was browsing target.com for an iPod USB cable. I caught most the episodes while they were on, but I'd like to watch them in order, and everyone says the extras are really fun.

Now if only ADV would release the Farscape seasons for the same price...

Well, I'm excited. I only got to see 2 of the eps while it was still on.

I don't know if you guys read the fireflyfans.net updates, but this one is from Nathan Fillion, and that makes me happy.
