Brandon Sanderson / Re: [MISTBORN RPG] Your wish lists, please

I think two constant rates for burning metals should be implemented.
One rate for normal burning and one for flaring.
Everyone burns/flares/uses the metals at the same rate though with differing efficacy due to skill/power.

Each metal has a constant percentage which is multiplied by the usage rate to determine how fast or slow a certain metal burns. Because we know that certain metals burn slower than others.

So:

M= amount of metal in milligrams (mg)
t= time
R= M/t = burn rate (how much is burned per unit time) (mg/s)
R= M^2/t = flare rate
m = metal constant (ex. m_Iron = 1.5; m_Pewter = 0.35)
B= amount burned (mg)

Say a normal burn is 2mg/s
and the flare rate is 4mg/s

B=mRt

So if you have 10 mg of Pewter which you burn for 10 seconds... B= 0.35*2*10 = 7 mg burned
The person has 3mg of Pewter left.

Now, actual output of power (P) would be related to amount of skill (K) and the amount burned.
It could be a straight linear relationship, or there could be a constant based on the type of action taken.

I have not accounted for gravity, friction, or an opposite push on your push/pull, mainly because I just thought of this very quickly and am not even sure it would work....

I think I may have unnecessarily complicated things though...

Not sure why you are so worried. Even Robert Jordan was quite devout in his own faith and Christian parallels can be seen in his book already.

When you first started your post I thought you were one of those ultra fundamentalist anti-mormon evangelist types. Your attitudes and views are very similar.

But then I find out that you are agnostic.... So I wonder what all the fuss is about.

You seem to have a lot of beef against mormonism, which you don't even seem to know much about, and which knowledge seems iffy at best. Yet now you compare one of the most charitable and cleanliving religions to the terrorists that perpetrated 9/11. wow...

As an agnostic does it matter whether a church believes that people can become gods or whether a church believes that people just go play harps forever?

Didn't RJ clarify that for us already?

Yes, but someone suggested RJ might be lying, although I don't know if he was being serious.

He could've been lying t us. I hear authors do that sort of thing ALL the time. (Yes, I'm looking at YOU Alcatraz Smedry!) :D

We are supposed to be serious? blast....

For the record, I don't think RJ was lying, but Olver WOULD have been the perfect choice. Unless of course he WAS lying and all those excuses are just hand waving to distract us from the fact that Aliens abducted Gaidal from T'A'R and brought him back to the wrong place! dun dun DUN!

But Robert Jordan didn't think he was keeping it a big secret - he thought he was making it obvious.

Which is a little mind boggling. What other "secrets" were hidden in "plain sight", I wonder...

I fail to see how this helps ANY money get "given back to the people". Most of these decisions lately are going to end up costing us people (read tax-payers) more money in the form of higher taxes.

He was smart so they castrated him!?  Poor poor monkey. :(

Note to self: If I'm ever a monkey, play dumb.

hopefully they don't castrate apes for being dumb as well! :P

Mediocrity is the key.  Neither smart nor dumb. You coast through life and no one castrates you :D

The plot between LTT and Rand is realy a funny one. LTT think Rend is a mad voice in his head, and Rand think LTT is a mad voice in his head.
I dont think LTT is mad anymore, he did get healed before he did die, but he is/was a very sad man, so sad that he think he is crazy and have a voice in the head (Rand). I f you think about it, he did hear voices before he was healed (lanfear did say that male channelers did that before the madness did take them) so its not strange that he still think he is mad and refuse to "talk" to the voice (Rand).

I used to wonder if there was some sort of time-breaking link between LTT and Rand. So each heard the voice of the other in his own lifetime. So when LTT went mad for the first time his mind got linked up with his future self, and when Rand went mad he linked up with his past self. So that the two timelines are happening simultaneously in their respective heads. Rand wasn't merely hearing voices, but the thoughts that LTT thought a thousand years ago and vice versa.

Trippy, I know, but such are my thoughts sometimes....

Ummm.....why is this earthshattering news?

"Animals Plan" "Animals don't live in the moment, like we thought they did"

Anyone who has ever had a pet can attest to these kinds of things.

I thought the whole "Animals are dumb, soul-less creatures" idea was far behind us.

My HAMSTER planned in response to a future psycological stimuli. That stimuli was HUNGER. So the Hamster stored food.

I don't know why people are so surprised when animals do stuff.....

But yes, the Monky apocalyse, now that could be fun :D
