Wow.

Are we finally seeing Hemalurgical abilities or Feruchemical abilities fused with Allomancy?

Brandon Sanderson / Mistborn: The Retirement Years

I thought it would be interesting to find out what other ethical and nonviolent uses people could find for the magical abilities of Allomancy and Feruchemy (We don't know much about Hemalurgy). For instance, if everyone that survived at the end of book 2 live through the conflict with Ruin and don't just wake up from a dream or the Matrix, how do they transition to a life without need of a knife?

For example, with the Feruchemical ability to alter ones weight, a keeper might take a day job as an Elevator Operator. A Lurcher/Coinshot might find employment in Airport Security (Yes, they discover the ability for mass flight).

Brandon Sanderson / To pass the time: Buy/Sell
« on: August 26, 2008, 12:38:34 AM »
With Mistborn 3 seemingly forever from release, I thought it might be fun to play a little game of buy/sell. It has been played on countless forums so I am sure most have heard of the game, however for those that haven't the rules are as follows.

Each poster will quote and answer buy (agree) or sell (disagree) to a previous poster's statement, provide an explanation for their opinion and then posit their own statement. The more wild and out there the statement the better, which shouldn't be a problem with some on this board. Statements don't have to be something you believe true when you post them.

To keep things clean, please quote only the statement rather than the whole post.

Try to keep statements to a single sentence rather than a whole page.

Responding to someone else's explanation is frowned upon; respond instead to the same statement, providing your own explanation.

The thing I like about a game like this is it allows us to rehash old theories that we didn't want to rebump, discuss theories that we didn't feel deserved their own thread or theories that really don't fit anywhere else.

I will kick things off with a statement and then respond with a post showing the format. Please remember each post should contain a 'transaction', an explanation and a statement.

Buy or Sell?

Brandon Sanderson / Question: Mistborn - Final Empire
« on: December 28, 2007, 08:32:17 AM »
I am reading Mistborn 1 again (for the 6th time) and decided that rather than just pondering the text and continue reading as usual, I would voice my 'question' which may or may not have been answered previously. Please move or merge as necessary.

Quote
That night, Kelsier had Snapped, coming into his powers as a Mistborn. The next night, men had died.

Many Men.

I assume that since Kelsier was a prisoner in the Pits of Hathsin, outside of atium and minute traces in his own body, he would not have access to any allomantic metals. Unless he discussed allomancy at great length with Mare, he would have had to have been a very quick learner to take one day to master the confusing affects of atium. Even with the one second glimpse into the future, to take on 'many men' would have been a tall feat without the use of pewter, iron or steel.

Therefore, I am lead to believe that there may be much more to the story or a very simple answer, both of which Brandon could possibly divulge here or within a short prequel.

You may ask yourself "Where was his question? I didn't see a question mark anywhere in his post." and I would respond "It was in the last sentence."
