Well I broke down and bought Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians, and now I'm bummed because I finished the book and I want to read more.   :(

Bah!!  It's an evil adaptation of a classic book.  Just make sure your kids know that there is a much better story awaiting them in future.

It's a clue presented out of context, so I would be surprised if you found it. The name is mentioned a lot in book 3 though.

Crap.  This means that I'm going to have to go back through and actually pay attention now, doesn't it?  >:(

I understood this part all to well as by the time I read Elantris I was sitting around with two pins in my toe after having it broken at work in an accident. Still waiting for the pins to come out and its been almost 3 months now.

Ouch!  That's got to really stink....

Books / How many books to do you read?
« on: January 12, 2008, 05:25:08 PM »
So the question is how many books do you read at a time?  For me, I'm usually reading about two or three books at the same time, depending on my interest in the stories or if something brand new comes in.  It drives my wife a little bonkers because I leave my books strewn around the house.  ;D

Finished Elantirs and am still reading Inkheart with Mythago Woods thrown in there.

Just finished Elantris, and my favorite scene is where Raodan jumps out of the pool and runs his heart out drawing that line to Kae.  There is something about that scene that just touches the imagination.  You gotta love the courage and the drive.

Still too long.  :(

I *could* have gone to lawschool, but it just would have made me more insufferable than I already am.

And we thank you for that from the bottom of our hearts.... ;)  ;D

I never figured out why Kel nicknamed him Spook.  Did I miss something or am I completely oblivious (both which amount to the same thing).

Like I said, I really have no opinion of fanfiction one way or another.  But I can definately see an author's viewpoint on the whole thing.  I sure for one would not want to get sued, whether or not I am in the right.   Besides, if I have ideas, I would at least like to get credit for them and make them original.

Books / Fan Fiction: Good or Evil

I saw this kind of discussion on another board, so I thought I'd bring it here.  There are many out in this great Intarweb of ours that are diehard fanfiction...er...fans.  I know people who read the Harry Potter fanfiction as avidly as they do the actual books.  I know that there are authors at there who hate having fanfiction about their works, while some seem to encourage it.  I didn't see a thread about it, and I was curious as to what you people thought on the subject.  Is it a good thing or a bad thing?

I'm betting that Marsh ends up another martyr, like his brother.  He's going to come to himself, and then he's going to sacrifice himself for the greater good.  At least this is my hope.

The other idea is that he is going to go totally baddy and have to be put down by the other members of the crew.  Which is my least prefered option since I really like the character Marsh.  I hope we learn more about him in the next book.  He is still the only character from the original crew that we don't know too much about.
