The thing that REALLY complicates that scene in HoA is that the informant she's going to see is frickin Hoid.
Remember that Vin was spiked at the time, so Ruin probably didn't want her talking to him.
I never thought of it like that!

The blades used in WoK are the blades the Radiants used, your theory is still valid, they could be corrupt.  That might be why they don't glow like they did.

The sword's name is actually Oathbringer.

Well, the condensation thing is consistent all of the Shard and Dawnblades.

Here's the spellings for those names.
Tarabon = Taravangian (the King of Kharbranth, right?)
Sadious = Sadeas

I'm not sure who you're referring to with Alocar...you wouldn't mean Elhokar would you?  Dalinar's nephew?

The reason I hate Taravangian is that he was a nice guy for the majority of the book.  That particular reveal was like.   :o ??? :o :'(  >:(

Szeth I'm not so sure about.  I get the feeling the oathstone has some kind of magic around it that even if it doesn't directly compel Szeth to follow orders, gives him the psychological compulsion to meet out the terms of his punishment.  I don't think we know enough about his situation to make any real condemnations just yet.

Sadeas totally needs to die, but how to do it without breaking the country?  Hmmm...

Gaz may already be dead, we don't know.

This topic has ever so quickly left the straight and narrow of on topicness and has veered into the wild, wild wastes of mind screwdom.  And it took, what, three, four posts?  Dang, you might as well have invoked Gamespren on us!

Probable.

Well, depending on the time frame of when the Almighty made those visions that Dalinar is just now having, he could have died and the Heralds are Splinters, even though I'm not sure what that means exactly.

Where does it say that Talanel is Darkeyes?  Cuz that would be SO cool!

My thought is that, in true Brandon form, Dalinar asked to have his memories of his wife taken away, either because she died and he couldn't take the grief, or she betrayed him somehow and he didn't want to deal with it.

I also thought it could have been his Shardblade, but that doesn't seem too much like the Dalinar we know.  On the other hand, that could be exactly something the Blackthorn would do.

My thinking is that if the Parshendi are looking for the black sphere (nice theory about the dark stormlight, BTW) that not having Szeth grab it fits into their "honor" system.  Maybe Gavilar stole it from them?  And he and Dalinar look enough alike that the Parshendi Shardbearer thought he found Gavilar when confronting Dalinar.  But, wait, they killed Gavilar.  Just ignore my ramblings.

Brandon Sanderson / Re: WoK: Shalan - near end of book **SPOILERS**
« on: September 05, 2010, 09:13:02 PM »
Shallan didn't know that Jasnah could Soulcast without a fabrial until after the bread poison incident.  She thought that Jasnah wouldn't be able to help her because the fabrial was a fake and gave her back the one she took, not knowing that that too had been fake.  She didn't figure it out until later.

I guess I don't have citation, it was just something I assumed.  We know that he was there when Adonalsium shattered, right?

Not really, Odium is a Shard, which wouldn't exist before Adonalsium shattered.  Hoid wasn't planethopping before then, either.

I was actually looking for a quote from the book, which Chaos provided, thank you.

Interesting points, happyman.  But perhaps Ruin didn't think to block it until it was too late because Preservation's use of it was so subtle.

I do think that the Parshendi are Voidbringers, but like Chaos, I don't think it's that obvious.  And unlike Jasnah, I think there is definitely a supernatural component to it.  The real question is whether, or more accurately, how, Odium figures into the Parshmen's behavior.
