I've always thought Summer Glau would make a good Vin.  She's already proven she can do the "death dealing skinny girl" thing, and she would bring a huge cult following with her.  (Myself included  ;D)
And I.  I adore Summer Glau!

Ellen page was also in x-men... not sure if that's a plus.
If you think she can't do serious though, watch Hard Candy... scary, but really good.
Oh, yeah, Shadowcat, right?

I know, but that's really what it sounded like.

I think we should have David Tennant or Christopher Eccleston in there somewhere in order to get the Doctor Who fans to come see it.  Also because they're brilliant actors, but that's more beside the point.

As to the budget, I'm not sure what sort of money would be needed.  You have the ash and the mist, which would probably be easy enough to do now that I think about it.  And then you have the actual Allomancy, very few of which would require computer-generated effects (Atium, and Seekers--I can't remember the metal's name).  I think that the city of Luthadel would have to be computer generated (like what they did with Hogwarts), and have all the different sections filmed in existing places.  There's the inquisitors, which could probably be done with prosthetics and fake tattooing.  BUt besides that, I think a lot of it can be done with wires and pulleys and greeen screen.
As to what sort of budget Pallopa is capable of, I don't know. It would really depend on the Producers, I think (if my understanding of the film industry is right...which it probably isn't).
My understanding is that one studio develops the script and another does the actual filming, usually a much bigger studio.

Haha, you say all that stuff like it's easy when it's decidedly not.  All of that takes millions of dollars to make happen at all, let alone well.

I disagree, I think the three realms are all fundamental aspects of the same space, it is simply the level and type of existence that separates the three.  The reason most of the interaction takes place on a physical level is because don't really have a way to observe the spiritual and cognitive realms, as they don't have spiritual or cognitive "eyes" so to speak as they have physical ones.  The use of magic is what expands your observance of these different components, but it is still the same place.  For example, a Seeker's use of Bronze allows him to hear activity in the spiritual realm, specifically the pulses created by the use of allomancy.  The use of allomancy has a component in at least two realms, with Bronze allowing you to observe the other half of its influence.  Another example would be Brass and Zinc which have an influence on the spiritual and cognitive realms but have no discernible effects in the physical one.  This is why you can't tell whether or not you are being Soothed except by examining your own thoughts and feelings for abnormalities.

Google it? You do realize this forum is full of sf/fantasy geeks, don't you?
I'm always a tad paranoid that the references I make that about other fandoms will be lost on the members of the fandom I'm currently talking to.  So it's good to know that I have fellow DW fans on this board! :D

" Brandon replied that while Hoid himself is not a shard, he is bonded to one" -- actually I recall public statements by Brandon that seem to deny this.

Fair enough.  You would know better than I would, certainly.

And since when is hoid immortal?

Brandon said Hoid was there when Adonalsium was Shattered. Also, it's been said that it takes a very long time for a person with a Shard (say, Ruin) is molded really well with its Purpose. I'd venture at least centuries, more likely millennia. For all practical purposes, he's immortal.

And, well Brandon said in...an interview?...a QandA session?...(I'm not great about citing sources, apparently) that Mistborn happened first, with Warbreaker and Elantris some centuries after that.  So, immortality after a fashion seems the only viable explanation.  Or time travel.
Time travel and immortality!  Hoid is a Time Lord!  Hahaha!!!

My brother would probably smack you for saying that being Canadian is a plus, but he's crazy so you're fine.
I'm not so sure, her stuff so far doesn't strike me as the right...mood for Vin?  I'm not she's bad, far from it, I thought Juno was hilarious, but I just don't see her working as Vin.

I recommend Nathan Fillion as Kelsier, his acting dynamic of charming versus scary is spot on for Kelsier's dichotomic existence.

Can I get a time and address on that release?  Cuz Provo is less than an hour from me and I now realize that I can go!  Aah!

I would also be interested in such a thing.  I have a little experience with these from other sites.  Who would run it?

Pretty sure Liam Neeson needs to be in there somewhere. Bluefingers? Vasher? Denth? One of the gods? King Dedelin?

Not seeing any bad options here.

Vasher, definitely Vasher.  Awesome actor, and he seems to have the chops for the combat scenes too.

Sorry guys, I may have had a brain fart. My comment may be meaningless.
Well, yeah, we already know Ati- I mean Ruin's name.

I think the Omegas are more of a club for Alpha wannabes.  I don't see swearing off Alpha-ness as a particularly smart thing to do.

I don't know about you guys, but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  Or maybe that was the nap I just took?  *shrugs*
