That is one of the most-disturbing things I've seen in a long time.  Not quite Man Fay . . . but close.

Ooh boy.  I've been unwittingly "summoning" Robert Jordan a lot lately, especially after reading his latest in the Wheel of Words.  He's probably on a plane right now on his way here.

The person who said it has actually been to Germany.  He also said that he had a crocodile up his nose and the he was the king of the lions.  (This, however, does not make up for his incredibly thick American accent.  But hey, he doesn't feel so dumb.  JFK made mistakes with his German, too.)

There was an error in translation.  The word used was schule, not schuler, as Parker misheard.  So technically, it wasn't just one schoolboy, but a whole entire school in the aforementioned pants.

Thanks, glad you like the maps!  It's been awful nice for EUOL to let me hang out and sign books with him.

I shouldn't give book 2 spoilers, but in addition to Lady Protractor's appearance, there's the return of the Lord Ruler's now-leaderless band . . . the Slide Rulers.

Without the pewter-enhanced stage antics and hands-free guitar solos (steel-string guitar, folks) the band hasn't been the same.  I skipped their last concert.

Jealous of the Zed?  The Zed doesn't even have a girlfriend. And besides, I only date girls who think swords are cool.

But I'm so uncoordinated that I'd probably chop off limbs instead of food.  That's what would get me dumped.

Scalzi wrote today on his blog about "Various Bits of Bookpimpery" where he pimps up a bunch of books and then allows readers to hype up other books in the comments.

One reader wrote:

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson came out last Tuesday. I read a galley of it, and thought it was great. In fact, I didn't really believe it could be that great, so I started it again. After I finishing it twice in a week (something I have not done since my original reading of Enders Game)I can say this is an incredible new author and a great first book of a series. It's great because I finished it (twice) without realizing it was a series until I saw bk 2 and 3 advertised on his web-site.

That's some good pimpering right there!

I agree with Sprig.  The red foil adds something good to the cover that the scans just didn't have.

Imagine Learning is a spin-off from the animation company that I used to work for.  The people I know who went to Imagine seem to be very happy with the company and with the work that they're doing.

In addition to that, some of the best artists in Utah work there.  Although that really doesn't have much sway on a Tech Writing position.  ;D
