From Diggs--A four-legged robot called BigDog can carry more than 88 pounds, and doesn't lose its balance -- even if you kick it. (With incredible picture and video).

The only problem I can see, or better, hear, is that it sounds worse than a freaking pack mule. Wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, wah. Over and over and over again. Oh man can that thing take a kick. It looked like it didn't like crossing a large puddle either.

It made me laugh with it's dainty little steps. Looked like 2 japanese women had their legs cut off and nailed onto a metal coffin.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Dude.  It's only a matter of time now before people are riding that thing's descendants faster than cars and without the benefit of roads.

Legs are slower than wheels, always will be. But I guess off-road spider cars could be vaguely useful, as well as hilariously creepy.

...hilariously creepy.

You hit the nail on the head, there. They look so much like legs when they move, but they're attached funny. It was so strange to watch.

Rats! The mediaplayer video keeps stopping after only 15 seconds. Dang it, I wanted to watch the whole thing. I can't figure out why it's messing up either. Oh, well, at least I got to see the first bit--enough to make me intrigued and amused at the same time. (The noise it makes is quite the drawback...)

I wish it had a volume control. It's hard to play it at work and listen to mp3s at the same time without giving away that I'm not working.
