One of the things that I disliked about traveling in Scotland in November was how COLD it was all the time. It was probably about 45-50 F most of the time, but the rooms were so little heated that I stayed in. I tried typing notes at night, and ended up wrapped in a blanket and writing with a pen, because I couldn't type with my fingers that cold.

But then, I figured it was all research. Getting the feeling for what it's like to live there and all that.

I was in Scotland in April and it was much the same. I thought they were a civilized country and yet they've never heard of central heating.

What made you think they were civilized? I mean, ok, they're not australians, who beat koalas with sticks for the fun of it. but they eat HAGGIS.

Just for the reacord, Ireland in August is very pleasant.

I was there to tramp around the country and sing.

I went with a choir in high school- we bussed all over england and scotland, stayed in a dozen hostels and sang evensong at a bazillion churches.

That's a good reason to go anywhere, now that you mention it.

We don't  do it for the fun of it thankyou very much! The Koalas pose a serious threat to the structure of the bridge (Those claws are sharp) and thus the safety of those on the bridge. That's why we knock them off with sticks.

No, not really, but they do damage the paintwork. Which, incidentally, takes seven years to paint, and after they finish they start again. So you can see why the removal of Koalas is a high priority.

I thought you were talking about the actual structure of the bridge. If they're painting it anyway, why do they beat the defenseless animals?

Why do animals scrape the paint of a defenseless bridge?

Bridge paint is an offense to the moral character and religious practices of the Koala. think of it as a Jihad (yeah, they could choose a more significant religious foe, but come on, they're KOALAS, they gotta pick their battles).
