Did he use my review as a reference?
« on: September 09, 2010, 10:05:13 PM »
A couple weeks ago I posted a review of The Last Stormlord by Glenda Larke on the Elitist Book Review site. Today I came across a review on another blog. It seems...echoy. What do you think?

Mine: http://elitistbookreviews.blogspot.com/2010/08/last-stormlord.html

Theirs: http://speculativebookreview.blogspot.com/2010/09/review-last-stormlord-by-glenda-larke.html

(It's not like I've never read other people's reviews as I'm writing my own, and had it influence me. I'm simply bemused.)

You are getting famous. Your review was plagiarized. I think it is rather funny that someone is so lazy that they need to plagiarize a book review.

I think it's kinda cool that he agreed. I've read so many mixed reviews on that book. But, yeah, I was amused and wondered. Then I saw that EBR is on the site's blogroll. So I assumed...

Sure it is similar, but the other reviewer may just have a very similar opinion as you.  I wouldn't read too much into it.  If we ever saw something blatantly plagiarized, I'd go all pirate-ninja-zombie-assassin on the reviewer...but in this case, nah.  Seems innocent.  Especially with the way the reviewer responded to your comment.  Genius among equals and all that.

On a side note, I'm finding we are linked on more and more blogs.  It's good stuff.

It WAS nice to see someone who agreed so in parallel. I'm inclined to agree with you, Steve.

As for being linked on more blogs, it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Oh. And did you ever take a look at the 'short' list on the Book Blogger Week website for SF? HAHAHA. All three of them are paranormal/urban fantasy sites! Not a very good representation of the SF review blogs out there (except for Book Smugglers, they still count, cuz they're awesome).
