I'll throw all out.

And way to twist my words.

Actually, JP, ten years ago, Florida introduced laws that relaxed gun control, allowing any citizen to obtain a permit to carry concealed weapons (mostly handguns) and violent crime went down.

Right you guys have incontrevertable proof then. You win.

We should all introduce absolutely no gun restrictions. If a guy wants to carry a concealed howitzer into a bank, let them. If a ten year old kid wants to buy grenades and an assault rifle, let them.

That's not sarcasm. If lowering gun restrictions reduces crime, as statistics show, then lets lower them all the way to kill crime full stop. (See guns are good for killing things other than people)

So, oh wise American leaders who are great and smart, and everything, how do we go about getting our opressive government to let me buy a Sniper Rifle, so I can practice my skills and be kick-butt at Counter Strike?

Throwing it all out means you have to throw all statistics out, not just the ones you don't agree with.  Archon's point is that you can't just point to statistics that directly contradict your beliefs, no matter how fervently you hold those beliefs, and say they must be twisted without offering some explanation that holds at least as much credibility as the statistics presented.  In this case by an international body based in Holland whose whole reason for existence is collecting accurate statistics on such things.

No one denied that they were tools for killing.

So, again, your reply is, in summary:  "The numbers may not agree with me but I'm still right.  I don't have anything logical to say to support my position. You're all stupid poopy heads! thpppffft!"

Hah.  Funny thing is he wrote that last sarcastic post while I was writing mine.

JP, while I'm finding your frustrated posts on this subject growing steadily less useful and more detractive, I do want to respond to one thing.

The numbers don't HAVE to be directly related to guns to be relevant. It does say that there are more factors. But the ultimate point is that removing guns does not automatically reduce crime.

Well if you really are sincere, and believe that you should be allowed to have a sniper rifle, then why do you support gun control?

I haven't given up on this, I would like to reply - I've been a bit sick, and haven't really had the time or energy so I'll try and reply soon.
