The local radio station was say that even if Bush wins and Kerry didn't give up we could have had Kerry Running mate as our VP and Bush as the Commander and cheif due to how the goverement would be set up.  How weird is that.

That was the way it used to be when the constitution was originally written: the guy with the highest votes became Pres, and the second highest became veep.  It was changed by an amendment.  I can't remember which one.  One of the forgotten teens.

Think he was talking more about if Kerry managed to win Ohio you'd have 269 for both him and Bush, which would take the Election to the house and Senate where they would choose the President and VP.  Though, since both are controlled by the Republicans I doubt either Kerry or Edwards would have been elected.

Wow, who would have thought the NYT would have published this, Bush's IQ higher then Kerry's.

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/24/politics/campaign/24points.html?oref=login

I heard Brokaw mention it yesterday and wanted to look it up because that would mean I'm smarter then both of them and prove you have to have a low IQ to run for president.  There goes my legal way to take over the world, back the the Coup.

Here's something you guys might find interesting.  It's from the blog of a buddy of mine.  He got his masters in Public Policy, and is now working on a law degree at George Washington U., and working in Orrin Hatch's office.

Quote
Central to this theme is the Democrats big problem and the major reason they, by all reasonable accounts, lost horrendously in the election.

Democrats don't see themself as being "in" or, as the kids would say, "down" with the American people. No, America is too common, too crass, too trendy. Democrats, for the most part, are too cool for America.

That's why they speak longingly of Europe and Canada and the supposed Utopias that exist there. That's why they're fascinated with the U.N., with all it's cool, leftist mystique. It's why they reject liberty in favor of equality -- liberty is so last year! They refuse to condemn oppressive regimes and dictators because, if they did, it'd look like they were advocating the American way of life...in public. Just what would the cool kids (i.e. the Europeans and Yassir Arafat) think?

hrm.. I have to think on that. I don't know that I think that's completely accurate. Maybe a bit of a symptom, but not a "central" reason.

I think it's a central reason.  As proof look at how the left is reacting to their loss.

It's not: Hmmmm, maybe we need to rethink our views.
It's not: Maybe the majority of Americans have a reasonable position.

It's: OK, Bush better be ready to make some serious concessions to get us to work with him.
It's: I can't believe the American people let something like gay marriage take their attention away from the war in Iraq.

They assume that the "American People" are stupid and bigots.  They have yet to even consider the idea that maybe they're wrong about some things.  They think the only reason Bush took the election is because he was better at manipulating the "American People".  They assume that's all he did because that's all they do.

Here's what OSC had to say about it, and he calls himself a democrat.

Card?  He's a democrat in that he's an Uber Scholocist, he just happens to be very right on defence so I guess in this election it balences out.
