Sometimes we have to go out into the world and remind them we still exist and are in charge. Keeps them on their toes.  8)

Canada has Three major language groups.  One is French and the other is Iroquoian.  Not very US like at all.  Besides Dollar is a bastardization of Tolar the name of a Spanish mine the silver came from.

And well Texas may be good at stealing (Enron comes to mind), but ruling?  Hardly.

I love how you say "has three" and then "one is... and the other is...".  Reminds me of the Spanish Inquisition.

Anyway, I've been sore for days.  Kind of sucks.  I'd better not be sore for Martial Arts tomrrow.  We've got new folks coming in.

I found that this works well (I did it going to and coming back from Japan):

You simply make yourself stay awake until it is time for normal bed time.  If you get in at say 3 AM you just force yourself to stay awake until that night.  Yeah, you'll be tired for that one day, but you kill the jet lag.

You mean there is a difference?

P.S. the new yorkers have more of the corperate bases, and they steal just as much as us!!!!

That's pretty much exactly what I did coming back from France...not so much when we landed in Ireland though, at the beginning of the trip. I didn't sleep at all on the plane ride, but oh boy did I sleep on the bus, and missing the few stops we made on our way to Galway too....But oh well. Jet lag was that day and only that day, so it's all good.

Anyway. On-topic....Grumpiness. I missed my only class yesterday because I was stuck in Twin Falls at home, without a ride to get me back to Rexburg until this morning. I don't like missing class...Now granted, I got to spend another 2 days with my family, which was cool, but still. I missed class. And that's not cool.

The guy I normally practice HEMA with didn't show up again today.  He's pretty flakey, and it's getting old... we're just starting to get to the point where we can work through the manuals, bleh.

At work in the middle of the night because of the stupid annoying criminals who exploit security holes for their own nefarious purposes; in this case, distributing pornography and malware.

I've found this to be the dark side of using open source web software. Exploits get published, and then these lowlifes write scripts to seek out and exploit vulnerable installations. Software I write myself is far less likely to get exploited, for two reasons:
a. Nobody knows I exist, and
b. Nobody researches and publishes security holes in my programs.
Good, old fashioned security through obscurity. It works - most of the time.

Now, the projects fix the holes, but staying on top of the newest releases of everything I use is tough for me - I'm a part-time student employee and the only maintainer of a college department web site. I have enough other things to do that updates fall by the wayside - especially when I need to re-apply modifications to the new version.

That's what I'm doing now. An extensively modified app got exploited, and it's heavily used too, so I'm doing the upgrade in the middle of the night. Worse, we have three instances that have been customized in different ways. Sigh.

At least the users will get a better experience out of the deal.

I have been sick for the past two weeks, might be pregnant, might not, the Dr said, well, just wait another week, we should be able to tell by then.
I know that until the last twenty years or so that is always how it went, but I want the official answer.  This limbo state is driving me nuts.

That's exciting! Well, not the sick part, but the potential pregnant part.

All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

Grumpy: slow day, customers who don't listen thereby causing EXTRA work, a laid-off, sick (ill) husband, and a dirty house.  On the plus side, listening to the thunder outside is very soothing right about now...

I got in trouble for someone refusing to talk/listen to me at work... i don't care if i like them or not i do my job and thats why im there he didn't like me because i corrected him 2 days ago (because he ignored the trainer so made a stupid mistake) and he would ignore me when on the grill you have to communicate and i get in trouble... how does that work?

So today I go to the doctor to try and figure out why I've been so sick recently.  Turns out I've become allergic to my dogs and I have asthma. :(
