Holiday travel woes
« on: December 21, 2004, 02:33:33 AM »
I finally finished packing, and decided I'd try the check-in online thing. Good thing I did. They moved my flight up by about a half hour. My friend is giving me a ride in the morning, and it's too late now to call her and tell her we need to leave a half hour earlier, but hopefully she won't resent a call first thing in the morning.  :P Hopefully this means we'll miss a little of the traffic, which is going to be bad what with our snowstorm today.

Stolen moment on my sister's computer.

All sorts of more woes the day I traveled. But I got on the plane fine, got home fine. Bopping around between two grandma's houses and my sister's. Kidnapped my nephew for a couple of days to Grandma's so that my sister could get more done at home. Hope y'all are having a good Christmas.

Oh, and did I mention that it's about 8 degrees outside? About -15 with the wind chill. Glad I brought the big coat!

Karen's dad, brother, and sister jumped in the ocean on Friday. Crazy people.

Did they get back out again?
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Yes, some fractions of an hour later. They went to the house and took hot showers.

I can't begin to tell you about the screw ups with my last flight to Utah and back. So I won't. It was very frustrating, but I got a lot read.

So, after getting up at 5 am yesterday, driving to Salt Lake in a snowstorm at 30-40 mph, waiting in line forever, and sitting on the plane for 3 hours before we could even take off, then waiting in a holding pattern above Chicago forever, then waiting an hour for my baggage to come, then taking the Blue Line to downtown Chicago and transferring to a bus while juggling way too much baggage, I then got off the bus 4 blocks too early. It was hard to see through the bus windows, and I thought that the stoplight up ahead was 56th Street, not 52nd Street. So I tried to haul three suitcases through 12 inches of snow and was finally able to flag down a cab to take me the rest of the way.

So, after all that, they cancelled my flight out of Chicago today.

Good news is that they rescheduled me for one an hour later. So I'll finally be able to sleep in my own bed tonight! And that Siobhan has internet access. But man, what an adventure the last two days have been.
