Fish is meet and cheese is a dairy product, which is why I could never become vegan or even vegetarian. xD

Ahhh you're right. Just looked up. Some lesson from one of my ignorant elementary teachers must have been stuck in the back of my mind. Sorry!!!

Well, that was my point, it's a common misconception that i dont understand how you could rationalize fish not being meat. I mean, there are "vegetarians" who eat fish, and still claim to be so, despite the fact that fish is meat.

It's a western thing.  In proper English meat doesn't mean the flesh of animals, flesh does.  But in this degenerative, post modern world where words are going out of style, "Cause me teacher learn me good!" flesh has been given an odd connotation.  Flesh is properly sub-divided into fish (the flesh of fish, shellfish and crustaceans), poultry (the flesh of birds), pork (the meat of pigs) and meat the grab bag of everything else.  But if it's not red meat from a ruminant you have to hyphenate as in snake-meat.  :)

Flesh can also mean the part of the fruit/vegetable that you eat. >>

hrm, according to the etymology of the word on wikipedia, the use of the word meat that excludes fish appears to be a newer use of the word (it states that this use of the word developed over the past couple hundred years from religious influence)

I love wiki's.  Sometimes the things you find on them are hilarious. Like this.  It's not on wikipedia anymore, but it used to be.  That's where I first found it.

Come now.  Wiki?  You've got to be kidding.

Study's show that wikipedia has about the same amount of error as encyclopedia britannica, so you can't knock it as a reputable source anymore than any dictionary you were to pull open.

I honestly would have ROFLed if that link had been to some wiki page about it being accurate. xD

Um you actually used the BBC as an authority?  Half of the inaccuracies I've found on wiki were cites from BBC or Nat Geo.

Ok, then, does cnet float your boat?  ::)

or how about the study conducted at california state university?

or information week?

I'm sure I could find numerous other sources, however, I have yet to see you cite any source as to your reasons to refuting (which is the standard form of a debate. You must supply evidence to back up your statements). The only place I can find refuting wikipedia's accuracy is from encyclopedia britannica, but i'm sure they may have some bias in there to try to refute this evidence.
