I don't want to get yelled at for discussing things on the "Cool Stuff" thread, so I'm moving this here.  

That deeply disturbs me that some day in the not-so-distant future, I may look up at the sky and see a Gap ad rather than stars.  It makes *me* want to move out to the woods.  There's something incredibely...unnatural about that.

I hate whats happened to the sky, at sea, the stars are mind boggling. We had to post a lookout watch all the time, and nights were often the best. I got lucky and pulled watch during a few Perseid Meteor showers... incredible....
but around here all I see is blackness from all the light pollution.
