Well...that depends on what part of the world you're in. Dogs are pets in america...but they're food in Korea...therefore, those pets aren't so much loved (except when being eaten  :D)...

Ah, but is it really a 'pet' if it is for eating. Seems like livestock is the better term for dogs in Korea :D

'Pet' tends to mean 'beloved animal companion' :D  (not food)
