Darn, and no videos? You didn't happen to do this in the company of a friend who likes to collect blackmail, did you?

I can only guess as to what habusake might contain, but I'm guessing you didn't think it was evil until you got the headache the morning after. It certainly sounds like you had fun at the time :P

You folks are crazy!  Slow down already!  Go play Notrium or something.

haha! I was wondering when you were going to finish reading....I saw on the "online" section that you were reading the thread, and I'm like "that's gonna take a while."....

I'm actually the only one who's been here the entire time....I need a life....I was supposed to write today, but instead I do this....Blast....Regardless, I'm leaving now. I need sleep....

(Not my pictures, but a good one I could find of Habu Sake)

Basically the snake's toxin seeps up into the alcohol and the alcohol dilutes it to the point where it can't outright kill you. Although if you drink enough of it you will die. There's a reason it's $20 a shot. It also plays wonders on your nervous system, temporarily of course. I couldn't move my left arm one night after drinking some, was fun.

I've been bouncing back and forth between here and exploring on Google Earth. Yes, I am horribly addicted to Google Earth.

Okay, quick post before I go.

Are those snakes in there? *shudder* They're huge!

EDIT: I should probably finish reading the post instead of posting after just looking at the picture....And yes, Google Earth is very addicting....If my computer wasn't being stupid right now, I'd be messing around more with that instead of spending so much time on here....

Well, at least I can say that I'm more constructive than the rest of you. Aside from buggering off for a couple of hours to go to band rehearsal, I have in fact been doing homework while surfing this thread!

...

Sure, I'd meant to have this assignment done hours ago, but... shhh...

And... wow.

Um, they take the snake out of the bottle before selling it, right? Seems like it might be kind of awkward, otherwise. For both the person and the snake.

Wilson: Well, I don't know about huge. But, they're large enough that that's got to be uncomfortable.

*blinks* I think one of them is eating something!

The ones I had still had the snake in the bottle at the bar.

Really fun times, although one time my friend drank way too much and I had to carry him downstairs from the bar (old rickety stairs) and about three blocks to the taxi's so we could get back to base.  :D

Jeez.

So, let me get this straight: You were drinking alcohol, which is already poison, along with actual poison, along with a picked snake corpse(?), all in one go?

Sounds like!

I'm not sure I'd want a snake corpse in my alcohol. Or its venom.

I'm not actually certain which prospect makes me more uncomfortable...

Incidentally, I sure hope those poor snakes were dead BEFORE they put them in the bottles.

Well, not huge as in "thickness," but more length of them....And I'm not a big fan of the larger snakes...And when I say larger, I mean "bigger than the garden size ones."

And now I'm REALLY going....

Actually, as far as I recall, most of the snakes were alive when they were put in. Helped get the toxin into the alcohol or something like that. I'm not entirely sure on the whole process, just going off what I heard.

Well, yeah. But I still don't know if they're huge huge.

Of course, if you're comparing them to garden size snakes, then yeah, they are pretty impressive.

I had a boa constrictor wrap itself around my head once? Probably the most interesting hat I've ever worn. Of course, I was much younger at the time, so the snake was probably bigger than I was... The thing I remember most was holding it up with both hands and being absolutely convinced the snake was going to fall off...

And that's ... well, I guess it makes sense. But it's unfortunate all the same.

I don't think I'd want to drink anything that something had drowned in to make it. Pickled corpses and venom aside.

One of the snakes in question.

And my wounds are almost fully healed, just a little while longer and I'll advance. (You know, to not totally throw this thread totally off topic)  :D

Haha, we wouldn't want to do that.

We'll have to go out somewhere and celebrate your healing of wounds. Perhaps we may even be able to celebrate me getting rid of these darned fleas, once and for all.

...Four to five feet in length? Either those are young pickled snakes in those bottles, or those bottles are rather larger than I thought they were.
