ROTFLOL. Thanks, Sprig. I needed that.

And just 'cause I feel the need to bring some more geekiness: lolphysicists. (I can't take credit.)

Poor right foot kitty! He has lost his mate.

It has been too long! I love this one:

But the 000000 cat is brown/tortoiseshell...
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

That's a tiger cat, not tortoiseshell (stripes, not spots). If I had time this morning, I could photoshop a picture of Tildrum into that spot. (Tildrum is my all-black cat.)

Stacer, you consider the cat in Pink Bunkadoo's picture a tiger cat?

Yeah. This is tortoiseshell: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tortoiseshell_cat. It's a form of calicoism, and mostly only prevalent in female cats because it's an X-gene thing (though some rare male cats might express it if they're XXY). Though interestingly enough, it looks like we're both right: this is a dilute torty: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Dilute_tortie_tabby_cat_-_Sophie.jpg.

The gene expression seems to be closely related, though--looking at this image (poor squashed kitten!) tiger cat and tortoiseshell often come in the same families of cats (which matches my experience--we've had calicoes and torties for years growing up, and there was always a tiger cat in the litter).

Awww!

We had a tortoiseshell named Trixie when I was growing up (she got killed by the garage door while I was on my mission--very sad).  People either thought she was really pretty or really ugly.  I remember one guy said she looked like a burnt groundhog.
