So who/how/where do we officially submit a review?

I <3 D&D books, and other RP literature - my library looks like the shelf at a hobby store  :)

Once I dreamt of death /
now it dreams of me,
And only rats and rotting flesh /
can hear my silent plea...

There's a submit an article link on the front page of the site.  You're welcome to review anything we don't have up, if you want to review something we've already got a review for then it needs to be a significantly different point of view.  Also read the submission guidelines http://www.timewastersguide.com/view.php?id=530 and if you have any questions feel free to ask Nessa, SE or I and we'll help you out.

I can't remember what the status of needing reviews and things is.  I know we've been very heavy on book reviews lately, but I've been writing what amount to book reviews for my adolescent lit class, and several of the books are speculative, so I could easily tweak them and submit them if you're looking for book reviews.  Do we want them?

I've been trying to limit book reviews to once a week (last week there were two because one was a fantasy, but the other a comic) so that it doesn't seem like so many and so they're spaced out. So submit as many as you want and they'll be posted, the order depending on what else is in the queue.

Ok, seriously people, there's nothing to post. Nada. Zip. Zilch. I posted one article last week (mine) and at this rate will only post one article this week (mine, again). I never intended to monopolize the front page, but you must admit, it's not my fault.

I've got a review of a board game that is almost complete. I'll submit it tonight.

I have two rpg reviews I'm trying to get written as well. Hopefully one article for next week and another for the week after that.

I have a perfect book for MsFish to review for Geek Girl if she's up for it. Otherwise, is there a girl who might be interested in reviewing an advance copy of Confessions of a Part-Time Sorceress: A Girl's Guide to D&D?

But like I said, I think this would be a perfect book for MsFish. I mean, how could she resist a book that starts out with a list like:

Quote
Top 10 Myths about D&D

1. You need to speak with a British accent when playing
2. You have to play in a dark, dank basement in the home of someone's mother
...
6. It will take the rest of your natural life to learn the rules
7. If you start playing D&D, your friends will abandon you and your subscription to match.com will mysteriously be deactivated
...
9. You will start dressing like a musical theater major and insist on wearing leotards, capes, or turtlenecks

...and so forth. Lots of fun. Who shall I mail it to?

(Note: this book is aimed at girls like I was at one point--who have friends who might play, but don't play themselves, or who might have played a few times, or don't consider themselves the "gamer type." So if you don't game, you'll still find it a fun read.)

If Fish doesn't want it, I'll read it.

Oooh!  I want, I want!  I might do a regular review, rather than a geek girl, depending on what I have to say about it and whether I feel like there's enough geek-girl style material, but I soooo would love to review it.

Oh, and Nessa, I haven't forgotten about the reviews I said I'd submit.  It's on my to-do list.

Cool, do what you want with it. I'll send it tomorrow. (I still think you'll love it for its Geek Girl-ness, but of course that's up to you to decide.)

Stacer, since this is an advanced copy and something we'd be reviewing/talking about what's the time frame you have in mind or needed for this?  I'd hate to have you send us this and then not get to it for 4-5 months or put it out next month but then the book no come out for 6 months, that type of thing.

It's being published in September, so a review anytime between now and then is fine. No rush, but also no worries if it comes out sooner, either. You'd just want to be sure to note when it'll be available in bookstores whenever the review runs. (That info is on the back of the ARC.)
