Antics and actuaries...
« on: June 29, 2005, 02:59:44 PM »
well due to popular demand(by the people of santa barbara) I have begun work on what will no doubt be one of the most significant examinations of the human psyche ever. I was working on a strange comic strip one day, a comic strip in which the main character name of chad mcnarrator guy was a talking cheeseburger with legs, also he was in the jungle, then a strange petition was laid on the desk. It had to have been signed bay at least 400 people all of which seem vaugley familiar... but the point was that someone had started a petition to pass a motion to have me chronicle the strange little paths my mind takes. I think this is because when i say something that is considered to be retarded, ridicoulous or random, it is because they ony hear/see the beginning and the end of my thought process and not the mechanics of how I got from point A to point X...
so here it is, http://thenauticalcamel.blogspot.com/ it's worth a look if you want a cheap laugh or are merely curious to know why I associate houseflies with the economics of third world countries.

can I make a suggestion? Don't make web surfers listen to music. If you want it to be an option, fine, but have the default be NOT playing.

well after much searching I have found no solutioin to the autostart problem, but I have learned that it's not the player that starts by itself, its that most peoples browsers are set to automatically play clips and whatnot when they are loaded, I even tested it by reconfiguring my browser to not do this and it worked, so I dont think I can change it, alrhough I did put the player at the top of the page to m ake it easier to turn off if you so wish.

How would I go about doing that, and also would it play for everybody or would they need something to hear it?

they'd have to have the flash browser plug-in but it's not a huge deal since something like 96% of PCs have it installed allready.

You'd get a flash program by getting someone to code it for you, they'd have to import an MP3 in (ie stream it) and then code an interfact that would allow controll.

It would be something like at one of my sites

Its something you should learn if you want to do anything multimedia wise on the internet.

Tell you what, if you hop over to Macromedia's site you can get a free 30 day trial of MX 2004 and I'll send you my stop and play button code.  Then you can make your own interface/layout with out having to worry about complex code, that would give you some experience in Flash.

Well I'm not one to kick a gift horse in the teeth, but do you need windows for the 30 day trial, because I'm a mac user, however if i can do it on mac os x.4 I would definately try.

I think if you made that a dead gift horse, you'd have the perfect mixed metaphor.

I think they've got 30 day trials for both Mac and Windows.

http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=flash

My actual disks work in both macs and windows so I assume they have both on trial.
