More Help from Da Ladies
« on: April 26, 2004, 08:23:45 AM »
Hey, womenfolk (or those of you menfolk who might know) what do you call that hair style where you have long, straight hair but you...uh, separate it.  Not a braid, but a little thing on the back of your head that makes some of your hair fall differently from the rest, giving it a kind of two-tiered look.  Usually the upper tier is smaller than the lower tier, and it falls down flat, eventually melding with the rest of the hair.  Is that just a different kind of tail, or what?

Does anyone have ANY clue what I'm talking about?  Because I think I just confused myself.

I have a NWN female wizard with that hairstyle. Don't know what its called though.
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

Yes, that's it Entropy.  Though, what I was imagining had a thinner band to make the braid, so that the hair fell straighter instead of up into a round tail.  However, you've got the idea of it there.

So, ladies, what do you call that?

may not be a name for it EUOL.  I googled for female hairstyle databases and all the ones I saw didn't have a name linked to them, just descriptions.

The picture looks like a half-ponytail to me.  You know, where the top part of the hair is gathered into a ponytail, which lies flat against the head and drops down to meld with the bottom layer, which lays flat.

Yes, what Brenna said. There's no name for it other than half-pony tail. You might just say "she pulled her hair away from her face." You can do the same thing with a barrette, rather than a ponytail holder/band.

I concur with both Brenna and MoD. Half-ponytail or "pulled back" from her face in a clip or barrette.

Alternatively, you could make up a name for it, since you make up lots of words in your books and it doesn't seem to have a name.

I think it's also called half-up.  Not that different, I know.
