He isn't real since I refuse to acknowledge his existance.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

but, I want to be a real boy!

Note that EUOL's won't count as an entry for NaNoWriMo because you have to start it during November, and he's already started his.

It's time to start outlining boys.

I'm doing it also, but it won't be official because I'm either writing part 2 of the part 1 I wrote for NaNoWriMo last year, or finishing my current project.

well, if you do part 2, you could always call it "book 2" and then it would count.

I'll join in and give a word count, but it won't be on something new.  I wish it was, but I've got deadlines.

I'll do it, but I may have to bomb out halfway through; it depends on how my 'study' and exams go.

I was all gun-ho about this in August, but now I'm not so sure I could keep up with my word count and my son. I am going to give it a go though.

Gemm, I recently read Card's How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy. I liked his Characters and Viewpoint better. Mostly, I'm just bitter that in C & V he labels (accurately to my mind) Lord of the Rings a mileu story, and then in HWSF&F he labels the triology a character story. Blech.

I also read Anne Lamot's Bird by Bird and Bradbury's Zen and the Art of Writing. I recommend all of them, but Bradbury is infuriating.

I have Bird by Bird and have only ever gotten halfway through it. She's got a great point as far as writing really bad first drafts goes, but then I got bored later. Or distracted. Maybe I should read it again. Someday.

Will somebody please either explain this a little more thoroughly to me or link me to a place where it is explained a little more in depth. Specifically I am wondering
a)When does the group meet / how often do you share your work?
b)How does the group communicate for meetings?

Whats a mileu story?
If you're ever in an argument and Entropy winds up looking staid and temperate in comparison, it might be time to cut your losses and start a new thread about something else :)

we dont' really talk about it till after we've written. and then only if we want to continue with it or rework it. November is bad for writer's group, since we need the time to get our word count up.

Basically you write a lot, try to get 50k words written on a NEW project during November. Group participation involves shouting encouraging words at each other and comparing word counts.

Incidentally, you have to get 1666.6 repeating words written each day to make the goal. If you try not to write on Sundays, like I do, then you need to get 1923.something words done. I shoot for 2000-2500 a day in case I miss some days.
