Poor Stacer.

I really feel bad for you guys whose bodies don't work like they should.  I guess you'll never feed your children anything sweet?

What does feeding my children sweet things have to do with allergies? ???

I think he is referring to the fact that many nutritionists believe that processed foods, refined flour, and sugar lead to the development of allergies. But I could be off--he might mean something else.

I wonder about that, myself. Because I wouldn't want my children to have the health problems I have. However, I believe in everything in moderation. I want my kids to eat healthy, but no one can go through life without eating a Twinkie.  ;)

I'm pretty much not going to let my children have anything remotely sweet before they're 1 year old - they'll hardly miss it - and I think I'm going to refrain from giving them any "real" sweets (candy, cookies, etc.) until they're 5 or so.  I figure they ought to be safe by then.

My understanding is that it's only when they're very young that it's an issue, though.  Eating lots of chocolate when you're 20 wont give you allergies - in fact, some German scientists think that dark chocolate is good for your heart.

Actually, I grew up on a farm and most of what we ate as I was growing up was whole foods from our garden. I'm just really, really allergic to everything--but not foods.

Ah.  I'm sorry.

I have no clue how it is that I have no allergies.  I know that most of my siblings have allergies.  I just want to do what I can to keep my own children from suffering.

I suppose that's as good a method as any, just as unproven as most. I haven't read anything that really proves that works, any more than growth hormone given to cows affects children's earlier development (which I think is more a product of better nutrition than previous generations, more than growth hormone). It's best to avoid giving kids a sweet tooth anyway--I was born with one, and I don't need to encourage it! :-)

I'm miserable because I already hate my NaNo book and I'm way behind.

What I've heard is that breast-feeding infants longer results in fewer allergies. For the infants. Man, that just wasn't a good sentence. What I've heard is that when infants are breast-fed more as opposed to less they tend to have fewer allergies. And yes, I know I could have just deleted everything and started over, but I like the whole stream of consciousness thing.

That's what I said when I first saw it. Now, for better and worse, I have become desensitized.  :P

Sorry, Skar's icon Rocks the Casbah, my friends

ANyway, I'm EXTREMELY grumpy, to the point of irrational fury, because I've not only apparently lost my flash drive, but it had the only copy of my NaNo on it.

Oh, that's awful!!!!  :o :( >:( :P :'( :-/

There are no words to describe how terrible that is. Are you positive it is lost? Is like your entire life's work on it, or do you have most of it backed up somewhere else?

But all your nanowrimo--that's tragic.

It had a copy of most all of my writing, but certainly not the only copy of anything but my current NaNo.

I'm pretty sure it's lost. It *may* be at the Church, but if I don't find it by monday, I'm out of NaNo. Two weeks in is way too late to start over.
