BrandonSanderson.com down time
« on: May 19, 2006, 06:42:37 PM »
Just FYI, like TWG BS.com is getting transfered to a new hosting plan and will probably be down for a little bit either today or tomorrow.  It just depends on how long the transfer of the domain name takes.

Looks like it's going to take several days to transfer the domain name so this is planned now for next week sometime.  I'll let everyone know on the exact date.

We also just bought Mistborn.com and have plans on implementing that soon.

Hey, make sure you have your BS.com set up to use the current nameservers on GoDaddy. Otherwise it'll just vanish when the domain transfers.

I believe it's set to keep the same nameserver as it's currently using.  I can't change that until the approval goes through.

Also a note that http://www.Mistborn.com is currently pointing to the new home of brandon's site so if anyone feels like debugging http://www.Mistborn.com feel free to go there and post any errors they find that way when BS.com moves there will be less bugs.

I didn't see any bugs, but what could be buggy? The spoilers function correctly.

Some database calls I had to fix and there could be links that may not work.  I think I've gotten everything but I thought I'd ask for people to check just to be on the safe side.

I don't know about you, but it seems weird to me to move over to Mistborn.com, its like saying thats the only book he's ever going to write to me. I'd want something more universal if you get what I mean.

There will be several domain names all pointing to one site.

This is just part of the move, getting one domain name working at a time.

At least that is what I've gathered.

So mistborn.com will be the same as brandonsanderson.com as well several other sites.

Update:  I've requested Brandonsanderson.com to change it's nameservers to point to my account.  It might be down until I catch the change since it'll take a few hours.

Update 2: Ok this should be a fairly smooth transition.  When BS.com finally points to me, there should be no down time at all, the blog will loose two entries.  I've got those entries waiting to be uploaded but I haven't done so yet since this will be a good indicator as to when this whole thing is over.

Looks like this all happened smoothly.  Well done, Sprig and Tage!
I'm going to unsticky the topic.

And I'm going to lock it since there's no reason for any more comments here.
