WorldCon 2007
« on: August 28, 2006, 06:59:06 PM »
So, now that WorldCon is over, the question I have is: Next year are people more likely to go to world con in Japan, or the North American Science Fiction Convention instead?

Another question...Did I read this right?

"Denver has won the right to host the 2008 World Science Fiction Convention." from http://www.denver2008.com/

Moving this to Brandon's department since this is where the Worldcon shop talk happens.

I know EUOL and I are planning on hitting Japan next year but I doubt any others will.
Screw it, I'm buying crayons and paper. I can imagineer my own adventures! Wheeee!

Steve Diamond might go, as might a pal of his.

I would love to go. If I can get my trip covered by work, I will. But...that seems unlikely. However, I might still go anyway. Maybe. But I won't decide anytime soon. If I don't go, I'll probably go to World Fantasy next year instead.

As you may have noticed, my name has been changed.  I am no longer Diamante.  I am Hence-forth known as "Bookstore Guy"!!  Those who were at Worldcon know why!!

Hah! How awesome would it be if Alan, Ookla and I all were able to go?  All I know is if Mrs. EUOL (Evil Undead Over Lady?) goes them me and her will probably jet to Kyoto for a day because that would be more interesting then nerd con, plus I told myself next time I was in Japan I was going to go there and I intend to keep said promise.

Or Shinkansen to Kyoto.

I never made it there in my half year in the country. Stupid me.

Ya, I was using Jet as an implication of a quick travel not that we'd take a plane there.

If I sell a book between now and then, and if I get a good advance, I'll go. So let it be written!

I think you're lying

Both on the basis of the disturbing fascination they have with school girls and the fact that you went.

I was going to argue the point, but because that interpretation is so awesome I'm going to co-opt it.

Fell, a school girl?

Me parece perfecto...

I am half tempted to start a thread of most embarrasing and humorous things said and done at Worldcon...should we?  I mean, shoot, the stories we could tell of being propositioned for a headband, or bashing Scalzi as he walked by...classics (not that anyone those happened to me or anything...)
