That makes me sad.  :'(

But I'm still happy because my true friend MsFish is a lot of fun to be with, especially when she goes undercover as a clueless non-geek girl. Curious what that means? You'll just have to read her column next week. But we sure had fun tonight. And then she helped me sort and toss out stuff. Yay, I'm making progress!

And all that makes me very happy.  ;D

I am hooooome for Christmas! And the mountains look as lovely as ever. :D Made it from Boston to Orem without any delays. Amazing!

Though I did have a screaming toddler on my 4 and 1/2-hour flight. >:(

However, I got about 75% of my Christmas shopping done at the airport--you know, the Red Sox hats, T-shirts, and various other Bostonian goodies.

I also found a neat hand-painted Russian Santa for my mom. She loves Santas, and this one is gorgeous. Score.

I'm happy that an old friend of mine sent me an email today.

She is now living in Kentucky. Her husband has gotten a job as a theater professor and she has opened a engraving business that seems to be doing well. Her three kids are doing well and she finally seems to have a happy family.

I'm happy for her.

I'm feeling very blessed.

Someone left $50 on my door last week, and today, Santa left gifts for me and my three boys on the doorstep. Things like this mean very much to a struggling single mother.

My visiting teacher made me a gaming bag (to hold CCG cards) for Christmas, and MsFish made me the most awesome quilt. (You rock!)

I only wish I had the time to put that kind of thought and caring into the gifts I give.

Old One, the same thing happened to me today, only on my virtual doorstep. Someone (a friend of a friend, who must have heard from that friend about my car trouble) sent me $50 and said "Merry Christmas!" That was so, so sweet.

I'm happy because I think I have a car. I won't  believe it till I drive off the lot with it. My brother was amazing. I really didn't even care about the car (a Honda CRV)--it was just one of several I was looking at--but it handled much like the Jeep I'd been driving, and had a lot of the same features--not that those features were necessary, but it was nice to see. But I was perfectly happy to look for an older Escort or something like that. It was actually way on the high end of what I was wanting to pay.

Decided to come back at night with my brother so he could check it out mechanically and we could look at other cars they had. One had electrical problems. The other had a leaky transmission. Not impressive.

I did like the CRV, but wasn't passionate about it, but they were really pushy, and I had called the credit union to see what they'd approve on a loan, and they told me a number that was $2000 less than the dealer's asking price. Actually, almost $3000 less.

You know I just started looking, so even though I liked the car, I could walk away at any time without regret, which between that and having my brother with me, who stayed firm the whole time, was able to negotiate (after THREE HOURS of back-and-forth) the exact loan price, which we had said we'd walk out if we didn't get.

So, unless something happens between now and end of day tomorrow, I will have a car, and I will be able to drive to my friend's house for Christmas, with a warm heart for all the blessings that have come this week.

I have many things to be happy about. First, I feel so blessed to have friends like MsFish and CtrlZed. Last night I was seriously lying on my floor hyperventillating about all I had to do and feeling like there was no way I could ever get my stuff all packed or even fit it in my car. Well, MsFish came to the rescue. She's amazingly on-task about packing and organizing. As the boxes piled up, I began to despair, but she kept saying, "It will all fit." And, because of her, it did! Then CtrlZed came at midnight to help pack my car and also offered to take stuff to DI for me. They're just the best. I will really miss them.  :'( Good thing I'll be back in the general area in 4 months.  ;D

Second, I am happy because I found Harry Potter 4 on audio CD at BYU's bookstore. They didn't have it at Barnes & Noble, and that's what I wanted for Christmas, to listen to as I drive home to California. Well, while my car is getting serviced I came to campus--and they had it! On sale, too! So Merry Christmas to me!

Third, I'm happy because of the other Christmas gift I picked up for myself (it's so much easier that way--then I get what I want  ;)). It's the Divine Comedy DVD--my favorite BYU comedy group performing my favorite skits. I went to the show they filmed--I may even be on the DVD! I won't know until I watch it.

And I bet you're happy that this post is finally over! J/K   :)
