ok, i know this sounds weird, but whenever I watch a musical, I always catch myself thinking, "How do they all know the same words and tune to this song?" (they being the characters, not the actors)

I've decided something.  Somebody needs to turn 2001: A Space Oddessy into a musical.  This would be excellent for several reasons.

1. Random songs would fill in the annoying 20 minute blocks in the movie where there is no dialouge and no music.  I hate the movie because of this.

2. Songs would contain lyrics explaining everything, therefore making it a comprehensible story instead of a drug trip on a high budget.

3. There would have to be a love interest.  How they would work it into the story would be amusing to see.

HAL: "The space probe from the moon is messing with my mind- I think I'll kill the crew because there's nothing here to find!"
---

Chorus:  "Weeeee're... Going on a drug trip to another dimension, who knows what we'll see or what scary things we'll find!  We're going on a drugh trip to another dimension, (or maybe we're not and we've all just lost our mind!)
"First we're standing in a corner of weird and creepy room, then we're looking at ourselves and filled with a sense of doom.  Are we sitting, are we standing, are we lying in a bed?  Have we regressed to being born or are we simply dead.?"

I'd give just about anything to have the end of that stupid movie just make some kind of sense.  I'm told that reading the book helps, but I'm terrified to find out.

fuzzy--I'll ask my dad, since he owns the movie and has read the book. I remember him saying something along the lines of "If you watch the movie without reading the book, it will not make any sense. If you read the book and then watch the movie, you will be bored."

Very clever lyrics.

Saint--I always wonder how they all know the same dance steps.

Alright, I got TMBG's "Flood" album the other day. A piece of work this is, it is. I've heard most of these songs already. But, I'm glad that I now have them on a CD. I readily enjoy "Women and Men" immensly. The Theme for Flood is most excellent.

I think if you're new to the Giants, then this is one you should definately have.

I still can't figure out how you think you're a TMBG fan if you've only bought Flood in the last week or so.

As a long time TMBG fan, I have to agree with SE on this one, Gemm.

I just picked up Warren Zevon's farewell album "The Wind" the other day.  It's marvelous.  And terribly sad.

Saint: He's young, so he's got to start somewhere. I didn't hear and buy Flood until my junior year of HS.

You know what SE and/or Mr. P, you can just shut it. What if I was a Beatles fan, and someone else was a fan of them longer than I. And I told them that I just heard "Help!" or "Yellow Submarine" just the other day. They would probably say the same thing.

So I say to you, stereotypes only come in mono. It isn't fun, so maybe turn the volume on your bass down, and turn the treble up.

Lol!

Calm down, Gemm.  I was just giving you a little good-natured ribbing between TMBG fans.  I meant no harm.

Should have turned my sarcasm up a bit higher it seems.

Yeah, just naturally agreeing with SE can make the worst possible plan of action. So next time, try to disagree with him, but also jab me. And I just wanted to pull that stereotype thing out and see how it worked.

it uh... didn't. I'm not sure anything you said made sense, I was too baffled to respond, so I guess your ploy worked.

yeah, well, for one thing, I'm still not sure what you mean by that. Yeah, I caught your pun, it just didn't make sense. Also, we weren't talking about stereotypes
