The Dark Tower Concludes
« on: September 23, 2004, 04:28:48 AM »
The Gunslinger was one of the first 'adult' novels that I read when I made the switch up from the Hardy Boys.  King quickly became my favorite author (though I didn't appreciate his books the way I do now).  The Dark Tower has defined great fiction for me, and there was always another novel, usually years away, to look forward to.

The final novel sits before me, looking beautiful.  It's calling to me to read it, but I'm having trouble getting up the gumption.

See, if I start reading, it ends.  No more books.  Nada. It's bittersweet, really.  While I'm dying to know the conclusion,  it's all over once I do.

I don't want to start because I don't want to finish.

Aw, who am I kidding?  I won't be able to resist but for a few more minutes at most.

All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

Ok, the postman just dropped mine off literally 5 minutes ago.

I'd just like to say I am SO GLAD Michael Whelan did the illustrations this time.  I love Wizard and Glass, but the illustrations make me want to vomit and it means it's the one I can stand to read the lest.

I finished it the other night.

Wow.

I'm still working through the implications of the ending and exactly what they mean.

When you finish it, fuzzy, perhaps we can speak of it in a *spoiler* covered thread.

it was only 33K, which would take 4.7 seconds to download on 56k.

Perhaps you can explain more info about It to me then. I saw the movie twice, and enjoyed it, but never got through the book, and now am wondering if it was a huge mistake not to.

Done.

Ay-ay-ay, I feel like I just read two books instead of one.  Although that book is thick enough to be two books at least, so....
