Anyone ever heard of...
« on: November 30, 2004, 06:48:17 PM »
Rudy Rucker or John Kessel?

I googled them but don't recognize the names or their books. Rudy Rucker is apparently published by Tor, and his newest book is out this year, Frek and the Elixer. John Kessel has apparently won several Hugos and Nebulas for short stories and novellas.

Anyway, I've never read them. Wondering if anyone else has.

Yes, on Rucker. Rudy's book Spaceland was described in great detail by one Mr. Moshe Feder at a certain long party at a World Fantasy convention, so I read it. It was pretty good.
All Saiyuki fans should check out Dazzle! Emotionally wrenching action-adventure and quirky humor! (At least read chapter 6 and tell me if you're not hooked.) Volume 10 out now!

Knew I'd heard that name before...

And yes, I've heard of Kessel too.  Haven't read any of his stuff, but I do know the name.

Both of them are going to be guests of honor at the conference in March I posted the link to. I had never heard of them. Is Moshe Rudy Rucker's editor?

Back then? Has Moshe gotten a promotion in the last few months? I thought he was still an assistant when we were at WorldCon.

Rucker has a new book out?!?!?!?

Yes, I've heard of Rucker! Rucker is one of the influential Cyberpunks, back with the Software series, of which I need to find the last two books. The first was excellent.

So I'm feeling to lazy to start a new thread, and this thread seems to fit with this.

So has anyone heard of or read "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" by Susanna Clarke?

I've heard of it, but haven't had a chance to read it. So I've been deleting the child_lit discussions of it. Yet another vacation reading list item.
