you have been coughing and irritated the mucous membranes of your throat. I recommend codine.

Hey!  Local doctor, if the doctor I saw yesterday says I just have the flu, why does my throat feel like somethign is trying to claw its way out of it.

Dang it! They make the codine go down well. There's some percocet in the house will that do just as well?

Problem is I'm still coughing. The flu I had last year is nothing compared to this one. I must have caught a particularly nasty strain. I guess I shouldn't underestimate a disease that kills between 250,000 and 500,000 worldwide every year.

no not really.

You can try warm herbal tea though. And if that doesnt work a brine gargle can help too.

Chloroseptic will numb the throat for a little bit and cough drops might help too.

My preferred plan was just to hibernate until I'm better, but that doesn't fly well with my employer.

I find that I can fight the flew or cold well with cayenne pepper or something else really, really spicy hot. Hot, spicy food seems to break up congestion and numb the throat. Korean Shin ramen is loaded with cayenne peppe and usually works for me. Plus, you won't be druging yourself up (or trying to overdose on drugs).

Now for liability purposes, I'm a lawyer, not a doctor (despite my wife's wishes). I don't intend for this post to be taken as either legal or medical advice.

I'll take tylenol or advil or something when I have to work but actually I prefer not to drug up unless I really need it.  And I was joking about the percocet.  Unless something like that is given to me by a doctor, or it's a serious emergency, doing that kind of thing is too close to recreational drug use for my morals.
