Gollum
« on: April 15, 2003, 03:38:43 PM »
So sometime a while back there was a thread here where everyone was arguing about whether or not Gollum was eligible for an Oscar nomination.  This isn't quite as good, but MTV has announced they're adding a new category to their annual awards for "Best Computer Animated Character."  Other nominees include Yoda, Dobby, and Kangaroo Jack.  I think Gollum has this one in the bag.

I'd vote for Gollum anyway. Both Yoda and Dobby were good, and Yoda did indeed kick bootay, but Gollum was like a visual revelation.

gollum was brilliant but i think that yoda deserves to win for that one scene in ep 2 where he kicked some evil butt

As much as Yoday does NOT deserve to win (in my opinion), I bet that he will. Too many people will be swayed by his lightsaber scene and ignore Gollum's solid acting and visual amazingness. Yoday just jumped around at long distance in the dark, and only rarely looked real. Gollum sat there on screen for several minutes, holding the show by himself with an interior monologue, and completely convinced us that he was an actual person.

Any particular reason you spelled his name Yoday consistently?
